  1. 1. NHBD Lung Transplantation

    Author : Per Wierup; Thoraxkirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Surgery; rat; pig; edema formation; lung preservation; bronchial healing; gas exchange; lung evaluation; Lung transplantation; non-heart-beating donor NHBD ;

    Abstract : The waiting list for lung transplantations world-wide is steadily growing. So, the use of lungs from non-heart-beating donors (NHBD) needs to be addressed. Hence, the aim of this thesis was to evaluate, in realistic animal models, the new donor organ concept: NHBD transplantation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Experimental modulation and suppression of anti-allograft immune response

    Author : Öyvind Östraat; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; linomide; leflunomide; cyclophosphamide; mycophenolate mofetil; azathioprine; thalidomide; cyclosporin A; ciprofloxacin; flow cytometry; production; IL-2; Rat cardiac transplantation; allograft; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : Abstract The objective of this investigation was to characterise the immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive effects of single drug treatment and the potential synergistic or additive effects of combined treatment with the focus on ciprofloxacin, thalidomide, mycophenolate mofetil, azathioprine, cyclophosphamide or leflunomide added to cyclosporin A (CyA). A rat cardiac transplant model was used to study graft survival and the influence on lymphocytes was evaluated by in vitro tests. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Study on Endoscopic Live Donor Nephrectomy and Elevated Intraperitoneal Pressure

    Author : Pernilla Lindström; Bengt Rippe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Candesartan; cardiac output; glomerular filtration rate; hand-assisted laparoscopy; hand-assisted retroperitoneoscopy; kidney; living donor nephrectomy; morbidity; pneumoperitoneum; rat; renal transplantation; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : Live donor nephrectomy (LDN) is a unique surgical challenge where surgery is performed on healthy individuals. It is of great importance to keep the morbidity of donors as low as possible, as well as harvesting a kidney in optimal condition. Lowering morbidity is the motive for introducing the endoscopic technique in LDN. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of Rejection in Experimental Xenotransplantation

    Author : Tomas Lorant; Annika Tibell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Antibodies; cell culturing; cytokines; hyaluronan; immunosuppression; mouse; rat; rejection; T lymphocytes; xenotransplantation.; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : One main hurdle to xenotransplantation, i.e. transplantation between different species, is the immunological barrier that the organ meets in the recipient. The aim of this thesis was to characterise xenogeneic rejection mechanisms by using the concordant mouse-to-rat heart transplantation model. READ MORE

  5. 5. Inhibition of acute allogaft rejection - experimental transplant studies with biological and chemical immunosuppressants

    Author : Zhongquan Qi; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; Immunology; tacrolimus; MNA; leflunomide; cyclosporine; drug effects; graft survival; immunosuppression; heart; animal; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : In clinical transplantation immunosuppressive agents are used in combination with the objective to achieve additive effects and less toxicity. A large number of novel drugs are candidates for clinical introduction at this time and experiments in animal models have an important role to play. READ MORE
