11. Error Analysis and Smoothing Properties of Discretized Deterministic and Stochastic Parabolic Problems
Abstract : In this thesis we consider smoothing properties and approximation of time derivatives for parabolic equations and error estimates for stochastic parabolic partial differential equations approximated by the finite element method. In the first two papers, we study smoothing properties and approximation of the time derivative in time discretization schemes with constant and variable time steps for an abstract homogeneous linear parabolic problem. 12. Aspects of a Constraint Optimisation Problem
Abstract : In this thesis we study a constraint optimisation problem called the maximum solution problem, henceforth referred to as Max Sol. It is defined as the problem of optimising a linear objective function over a constraint satisfaction problem (Csp) instance on a finite domain. READ MORE

13. A Parameterization of Positive Real Residue Interpolants with McMillan Degree Constraint
Abstract : The main body of this thesis consists of six appended papers. The papers are about the theory of the positive real interpolationwith McMillan degree constraint. In Paper A, a parameterization of the positive real residue interpolantswith McMillan degree constraint is given. READ MORE

14. Optimal Control and Model Reduction of Nonlinear DAE Models
Abstract : In this thesis, different topics for models that consist of both differential and algebraic equations are studied. The interest in such models, denoted DAE models, have increased substantially during the last years. READ MORE

15. Computational Studies of Magnetohydrodynamic Stability for Reversed-Field Pinches and Tokamaks
Abstract : This work describes the ideal & resistive Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stability properties of Tokamak and Reversed-Field Pinch (RFP) plasmas. The first four papers are concerned with the cylindrical approximation of RFPs and tokamaks whereas the final two papers deal with a fully toroidal description. READ MORE
