21. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids : Effects on Neuropeptide Systems in the Rat Brain
Abstract : Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) have been used in clinics for decades. The misuse of AAS has previously been attributed merely to sport athletes, taking AAS with intentions to increase muscle mass, enhance physical performance and to improve results in competitions. READ MORE

22. Photoreceptors in experimental retinal cell transplants
Abstract : The main objective of this thesis was to investigate the fate of photoreceptor cells when using different strategies for retinal cell transplantation. Comparing transplantation of fragments of embryonic retina with cell suspensions of the same tissue we found that transplantation of fragments of embryonic retina result in mature transplants with a higher degree of cellular organization than transplantation of cell suspensions of embryonic retina. 23. Growth Hormone and Anabolic Androgenic Steroids : Effects on Neurochemistry and Cognition
Abstract : Growth hormone (GH) stimulates growth and metabolism but also displays profound effects on the central nervous system (CNS). GH affects neurogenesis and neuroprotection, and has been shown to counteract drug-induced apoptosis in the brain. READ MORE

24. Blood Flow Regulation and Inflammatory Response in Experimental Models of Diabetes
Abstract : Type 2 diabetes is caused by defect pancreatic islet β-cells together with peripheral insulin resistance. The disease is often accompanied by obesity with associated low-grade visceral adipose tissue inflammation, which contributes to insulin resistance. READ MORE

25. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids : Neurobiological Effects of Nandrolone, Testosterone, Trenbolone, and Stanozolol
Abstract : The use of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) for recreational purposes is a health concern, as long-term AAS-use in supraphysiological doses is associated with severe physical and psychological adverse effects. Several behavioral and cognitive problems are reported after long-term AAS-use, and alterations in brain morphology as well as neurotransmitter systems have been reported. READ MORE
