  1. 1. Development and Studies of the Processes Involved in Minor Enantiomer Recycling

    Author : Anna Laurell Nash; Christina Moberg; Karl Anker Jørgensen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; asymmetric catalysis; biocatalysis; cyanohydrins; dual activation; Lewis acid; Lewis base; minor enantiomer recycling; recycling; titanium; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development and rationalization of processes involved in a new methodology developed in our group, minor enantiomer recycling.The first part of the thesis addresses mechanistic studies of one of the reactions involved in minor enantiomer recycling, dual Lewis acid-Lewis base catalyzed acetylcyanation of aldehydes. 2. 2. Improved mapping of steel recycling from an industrial perspective

    Author : Alicia Gauffin; Anders Tilliander; Ichiro Daigo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Recycling rate; lifetime; steel scrap; scrap reserve; dynamic material flow modelling; environmental analysis; greenhouse gas emissions; energy; alloy content; forecasting; backcasting; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : The results from this study show that it is possible to obtain data series on the steel scrap collection based on mass balance model on the crude steel production figures by steelmaking reactor type and additional knowledge on process metallurgy as well as information on inputs and outputs into the reactors with an area correlation coefficient of 0,91 compared to data obtained from trade statistics. Furthermore, the study shows that based on a new method it is possible to calculate the time duration of mass flows on a continuous basis. READ MORE

  3. 3. Experimental studies to overcome the recycling barriers of stainless-steel and BOF slags

    Author : Mattia De Colle; Pär Jönsson; Andrey Karasev; Muxing Guo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stainless steel; slag; recycling; sustainability; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : This thesis presents several studies aimed at improving the recycling of steel slag. The studies are based on a first evaluation of the state-of-the-artof the recycling applications both with respect to their possibilities and limitations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Gamma irradiation in multi-cycle ABS recycling- effects on ABS properties and the recovery of antimony

    Author : Sandra Tostar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ABS; antimony; gamma irradiation; recycling; WEEE; plastics;

    Abstract : Electronic waste, also called waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), is the fastest growing waste stream in Europe today. The fast exchange pace of mobile phones, televisions and computers creates an important need to develop recycling areas to take care of, reuse and recycle these materials. READ MORE

  5. 5. Recycling Inorganic Residues from Wood-based Industries to the Forest- study of Treatment Techniques and Leaching Characteristics

    Author : Maryam Mahmoudkhani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Diffusion; Treatment techniques; Alkaline solid residues; Heterogeneous reactions; Modified column-pHstat test; Recycling; Leaching; Characterization; Field test;

    Abstract : Abstract. In order to minimize the negative impact of loss of nutrients in the forest soil (when harvesting the wood), inorganic solid residues, from wood-based industries, have to be recycled back to the forest soil. READ MORE
