  1. 1. Aesthetic Flexibility : Modularity of Visual Form in Product Portfolios and Branded Products

    Author : Torbjörn Andersson; Johan Ölvander; Anders Warell; Stefan Holmlid; Monika Hestad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Aesthetic flexibility; industrial design; product modularity; brand extension; product portfolio development; carry-over; face-lift;

    Abstract : The increase in competition amongst companies that produce complex or large product portfolios has created a need to utilise modularity strategies not only to flexibly manage technical complexity in a costeffective manner but also for visual appearance. This research aims to understand how the visual appearance of products is affected by modular product development strategies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Product Modularization - Coordination in the design/Manufacturing Interface

    Author : Jan Eklind; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Product modularization; Design-Manufacturing interface; Coordination mechanisms;

    Abstract : The product modularization concept has developed in different directions, since its breakthrough in the nineties. This being mainly a means to structure and divide a product into manageable units, attributes such as ‘customization tool’, ‘product development organizer’ and ‘sustainable upgrader’ characterizes the concept’s scope. 3. 3. Redesign of Alpha Class Glutathione Transferases to Study Their Catalytic Properties

    Author : Lisa O Nilsson; Ralf Morgenstern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; glutathione transferase; heterologous expression; heterodimer; hydroxyalkenal; protein redesign; sequential design; dimer-interface interactions; enzyme kinetics; glutathione; dynamic C-terminus; viscosity dependence; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : A number of active site mutants of human Alpha class glutathione transferase A1-1 (hGST A1-1) were made and characterized to determine the structural determinants for alkenal activity. The choice of mutations was based on primary structure alignments of hGST A1-1 and the Alpha class enzyme with the highest alkenal activity, hGST A4-4, from three different species and crystal structure comparisons between the human enzymes. 4. 4. Probing the Alpha Class Glutathione Transferase Structure. Combinatorial Subunit Studies and Rational Redesign

    Author : Ann Gustafsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Glutathione transferases; rational redesign; enzyme; catalysis; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Molecular Biotechnology; molekylär bioteknik avd f jonfysik ;

    Abstract : The present work concerns two Alpha class enzymes, GST A1-1 and GST A4-4, of the glutathione transferase (GST) family, which are detoxication enzymes catalyzing the conjugation of the tripeptide glutathione with various electrophiles. The GST A1-1 structure was explored for protein engineering purposes and tailored for increased activity toward alkenals. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modernising ecodesign : ecodesign for innovative solutions

    Author : Gunilla Ölundh; Hasse Fredriksson; Peter Schumacher; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ecodesign; design for environment; product development; integrated solutions; product service systems; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The focus of environmental work in manufacturing companies has increasingly shifted from end-of-pipe solutions to the environmental performance of products and services. The product development process is central to creating value for customers. READ MORE
