  1. 1. Spectroelectrochemistry of Redox Enzymes

    Author : Andreas Christenson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Elektrokemi; Electrochemistry; complex II; bilirubin oxidase; laccase; enzyme mechanism; redox potential; electron transfer; spectroelectrochemistry; redox enzymes; Spectroelectrochemical cell;

    Abstract : A low volume and long optical path spectroelectrochemical cell was constructed and tested in a number of applications such as detection of direct electron transfer (DET) between redox enzymes and gold electrodes, determination of the formal potentials of redox centres in proteins and enzymes, as well as mechanistic studies of heterogeneous and intermolecular electron transfer of copper oxidases and succinate:quinine oxidoreductase (Complex II). The existence of DET between enzymes and electrodes was demonstrated for theophylline oxidase, cytochrome P450 cam, laccase, bilirubin oxidase, sulphite oxidase and Complex II. READ MORE

  2. 2. Alternative Redox Couples for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

    Author : Sandra Feldt; Anders Hagfeldt; Gerrit Boschloo; Petra Cameron; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; redox mediator; triphenylamine; cobalt; ferrocene; titanium dioxide; regeneration; recombination; Physical Chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) convert sunlight to electricity at a low cost. In the DSC, a dye anchored to a mesoporous TiO2 semiconductor is responsible for capturing the sunlight. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electrochemical Studies of Quinonoid Compounds for Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Batteries

    Author : Cedrik Wiberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Redox Flow Batteries; Naphthalene Diimides; Self-Association; Quinones; Electrochemistry;

    Abstract : In the current times of uncertainty in face of climate change, sustainable energy-related technologies are developed with urgency. A candidate of special interest is Aqueous Organic Redox Flow Batteries (AORFB), whose utility depends heavily on the organic molecules used. READ MORE

  4. 4. Function and Adaptation of Acidophiles in Natural and Applied Communities

    Author : Stephan Christel; Mark Dopson; Michael Schlömann; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Acidophiles; Biomining; Psychrophiles; Adaptation; Acid Sulfate Soil; Redox Control; Ecology; Ekologi;

    Abstract : Acidophiles are organisms that have evolved to grow optimally at high concentrations of protons. Members of this group are found in all three domains of life, although most of them belong to the Archaea and Bacteria. READ MORE

  5. 5. Adsorption, desorption, and redox reactions at iron oxide nanoparticle surfaces

    Author : Lelde Krumina; MEMEG; []
    Keywords : Ferrihydrite; Goethite; Secondary metabolites; Reductive dissolution; Catalytic oxidation; hydroxyl radicals; Fenton reaction; SOM decomposition;

    Abstract : Iron oxide nanoparticles are involved in several important biogeochemical processes. The interfaces between aqueous solutions and iron oxide nanoparticle surfaces are found everywhere in nature, and the chemical and microbial processes occurring at these complex interfaces control e.g. nutrient and contaminant availability and transport.
