  1. 1. Response of glaciers to climate change : Mass balance sensitivity, sea level rise and runoff

    Author : Mattias de Woul; Regine Hock; Peter Jansson; Margareta Hansson; Roger J. Braithwaite; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; glacier; mass balance modelling; mass balance sensitivity; sea level rise; glacial runoff; Hofsjökull; Storglaciären; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The purpose of this study is to enhance our understanding of the response of glaciers to climate change. Global sea level is affected by changes in glacier ice volume, and melt-water from glaciers is a principal water source in many regions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dynamics of the cold surface layer of polythermal Storglaciären, Sweden

    Author : Rickard Pettersson; Per Holmlund; Peter Janssson; Jens-Ove Näslund; Regine Hock; Helgi Björnsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; polythermal glacier; cold surface layer; ground-penetrating radar; spatial variability; water content; Storglaciären; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : Polythermal glaciers, i.e. glaciers with a combination of ice at and below the freezing point, are widespread in arctic and subarctic environments. The polythermal structure has major implications for glacier hydrology, ice flow and glacial erosion. READ MORE

  3. 3. Speleothems as environmental recorders : A study of Holocene speleothems and their growth environments in Sweden

    Author : Hanna S. Sundqvist; Karin Holmgren; Anders Moberg; Regine Hock; Frank McDermott; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; speleothems; palaeoclimate; stable isotopes; luminescence; karst hydrology; Holocene; Sweden; Jämtland; Physical geography; Naturgeografi;

    Abstract : The main aim of this thesis was to contribute with detailed information of regional environmental change during the Holocene through studies of speleothems and their growth environments from two caves, Korallgrottan and Labyrintgrottan in northwestern Sweden, and a cellar vault in Uppsala. This was done through studies of stable isotopes and luminescence properties in the speleothems in combination with a detailed monitoring study in Korallgrottan. READ MORE
