1. Ligand Dependent Regioselectivity in Palladium Mediated Allylic Alkylation
Abstract : In this thesis, different aspects on ligand dependent regioselectivity in palladium mediated allylic alkylation have been studied. It is believed that the regioselectivity is a result of nucleophilic attack trans to phosphorous when applying ligands wih different donor atoms. READ MORE

2. Towards Understanding of Selectivity & Enantioconvergence of an Epoxide Hydrolase
Abstract : Epoxide hydrolase I from Solanum tuberosum (StEH1) and isolated variants thereof has been studied for mapping structure-function relationships with the ultimate goal of being able to in silico predict modifications needed for a certain activity or selectivity. To solve this, directed evoultion using CASTing and an ISM approach was applied to improve selectivity towards either of the enantiomeric product diols from (2,3-epoxypropyl)benzene (1). READ MORE

3. Organic reactions in self-organized surfactant systems
Abstract : The aim of this work has been to investigate how microemulsions and micellar systems can be used as reaction media to overcome reactant incompatibility, enhance reaction rates and especially to control product composition, i.e., introducing regioselectivity, in organic synthesis. 4. The Synthesis and Use of Certain Pyridine Derivatives as Modulators of the G-protein Coupled Receptors mGlu5 and P2Y12
Abstract : The glutamatergic mGlu5 receptor and the purinergic P2Y12 receptor are two important targets in the development of novel treatments of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and thrombosis, respectively. Synthesis was developed to investigate the structure-activity relationships (SAR) of a novel series of 2-alkynylpyridine derivatives as mGluR5 antagonists. READ MORE

5. Aspects on the Regio and Stereo Selectivity in the Hydrolsilylation of 1,3-Dienes
Abstract : This thesis is a summary of four papers concerning various aspects on the transition metal catalysed hydrosilylation of 1,3-dienes. The hydrosilylation reaction is formally an addition of a hydrosilane to an unsaturated system and depending on the reaction conditions, control of stereo-, regio-, and chemo-selectivity can be achieved.
