  1. 1. Gene regulation by chromatin remodelling complexes SWI/SNF complex in mRNA processing and B-WICH complex in ribosomal gene expression

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Author : Antoni Gañez Zapater; Stockholms universitet.; [2018]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chromatin remodelling; SWI SNF; Brg1; Brm; alternative splicing; cleavage and polyadenylation; B-WICH; WSTF; ribosomal genes; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this project is to investigate the roles of chromatin remodelling complexes in gene regulation. It is focused on two groups of chromatin complexes: the mammalian BRG1 and BRM SWI/SNF complexes and the ISWI-containing B-WICH complex.Study 1 investigates the role of SWI/SNF complexes in alternative splicing. 2. 2. Chromatin remodelling of ribosomal genes - be bewitched by B-WICH

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Molecular Biosciences, The Wenner-Gren Institute, Stockholm University

    Author : Anna Vintermist; Stockholms universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chromatin remodelling; ribosomal genes; rDNA; transcription; RNA polymerase I transcription; RNA polymerase III transcription; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Transcription of the ribosomal genes accounts for the majority of transcription in the cell due to the constant high demand for ribosomes. The number of proteins synthesized correlates with an effective ribosomal biogenesis, which is regulated by cell growth and proliferation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Chromatin remodelling and gene regulation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology

    Author : Birgitta Gelius; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Chromatin plays an important role in gene regulation, as it forms an obstacle for a number of proteins that need access to the DNA. Several protein complexes that open up the chromatin structure have been identified and some of these are important for gene regulation. READ MORE

  4. 4. TNF-α and neurotrophins in Achilles tendinosis

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå University

    Author : Johan Bagge; Umeå universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon; tendinosis; tendinopathy; neurotrophins; TNF-alpha; physical acitivity; apoptosis; proliferation; pain; remodelling; anatomi; Human Anatomy;

    Abstract : Tenocytes are the principal cells of the human Achilles tendon. In tendinosis, changes in the metabolism and morphology of these cells occur. Neurotrophins are growth factors essential for the development of the nervous system. READ MORE

  5. 5. Secundum atrial septal defect in the adult. Clinical, haemodynamic and electrophysiological aspects

    University dissertation from Department of Cardiology, Clinical sciences, Lund University

    Author : Ulf Thilén; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MRI; clinical outcome; atrial fibrillation; Atrial septal defect; atrial conduction; remodelling.;

    Abstract : Atrial septal defect (ASD) is the most common congenital heart malformation diagnosed in adult life. In this thesis important clinical, haemodynamic and electrophysiological aspects of ASD in the adult are explored. READ MORE
