  1. 6. Renormalization of Lorenz Maps

    Author : Björn Winckler; Marco Martens; Michael Benedicks; Welington de Melo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical analysis; Analys;

    Abstract : This thesis is a study of the renormalization operator on Lorenz αmaps with a critical point. Lorenz maps arise naturally as first-return maps for three-dimensional geometric Lorenz flows. Renormalization is a tool for analyzing the microscopic geometry of dynamical systems undergoing a phase transition. READ MORE

  2. 7. Defects, renormalization and conformal field theory

    Author : Alexander Söderberg Rousu; Agnese Bissi; Pedro Liendo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; defects; boundaries; replica twist defect; conformal field theory; quantum field theory; Coleman-Weinberg mechanism; renormalization group flows; Theoretical Physics; Teoretisk fysik;

    Abstract : Defects in quantum field theories appear in many different contexts and are of great physical interest. Among other things, defects are used to describe the Kondō effect in condensed matter, confinement in quantum chromodynamics, Rényi entropy in quantum information and cosmic strings in string theory. 3. 8. Renormalization of perturbations in the spin-1/2 chain

    Author : David Gustafsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; non-abelian bosonization; renormalization group; perturbations; operator product expansion; Spin- 1 2 chain;

  4. 9. Cluster Effective Field Theory

    Author : EMIL RYBERG; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; effective field theory; charge radius; resonant state; renormalization; radiative capture; halo nuclei; power counting; nuclear physics; few-body physics;

    Abstract : Halo nuclei are loosely bound systems consisting of a core plus valence nucleon(s). In so called Halo, or Cluster, effective field theory, the core of the halo nucleus is treated as an effective degree-of-freedom without internal structure. READ MORE

  5. 10. Non-Orthogonality and Electron Correlations in Nanotransport : Spin- and Time-Dependent Currents

    Author : Jonas Fransson; Antti-Pekka Jauho; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; non-orthogonality; non-equilibrium; transport; nanosystem; quantum dot; spin-dependent; renormalization; Green function; diagram technique; many-body states; Hubbard operator; electron correlations; time-dependent; Fysik; icke-ortogonal; icke-jämvikt; transport; nanosystem; kvantprick; spinberoende; renormering; Green-funktion; diagramteknik; mångkropparstillstånd; Hubbadoperator; elektronkorrelationer; tidsberoende; Physics; Fysik; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The concept of the transfer Hamiltonian formalism has been reconsidered and generalized to include the non-orthogonality between the electron states in an interacting region, e.g. quantum dot (QD), and the states in the conduction bands in the attached contacts. READ MORE
