  1. 1. Policy, Interest and Power : Studies in Strategies of Research Utilization

    Author : Kjell Nilsson; Socialhögskolan; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Expertise; Knowledge; Policy Sector; Research Utilization; Scientification; Utilization Function; Utilization Context; Utilization Strategy; sociology; social work;

    Abstract : This dissertation about the utilization of applied social science is based on studies of research use in three different policy sectors - the social service, the building, and the working life sectors. In these studies some characteristics of the different policy sectors, like the distribution and exercise of power and control, was found to play a fundamental role in forming the patterns of research utilization of the organizations in the field and the ways organizations act in relation to their environments. 2. 2. Efficient utilization of sawlogs using scanning techniques and computer modelling

    Author : Anders Berglund; Arto Usenius; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Träteknik; Wood Technology;

    Abstract : The main question asked of the work described in this thesis was howthe sawing of logs into sawn timber can be performed more efficientlywith respect to the choice of raw material, volume and value yield in thesawing and in the grading of the sawn timber produced.The development of industrial computed tomography scanning providesinformation about the external and internal properties of a sawlogat production speed. 3. 3. The influence of gender and depression on drug utilization : Pharmacoepidemiological research in Sweden

    Author : Lena Thunander Sundbom; Göran Frenning; Kerstin Hedborg; Susanna Wallerstedt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adherence; anxiety; depression; drug utilization; gender; pharmacoepidemiology; prescription drugs; self-report; Farmakoepidemiologi; Pharmacoepidemiology; Health-Promoting Work;

    Abstract : Background Drug use has increased over recent decades, and is especially great among women and among people with mental health problems. To take advantage of the full potential of drugs and to avoid drug-related problems, drug prescription needs to be correct and the drugs need to be taken according to the prescribed regimens. 4. 4. Capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry applied to structural proteomics and small molecule analysis

    Author : Jordan Aerts; Erik T. Jansson; Per E. Andrén; Petr Man; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Capillary Electrophoresis Mass Spectrometry; Hydrogen Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry; Enantioselective Separations; Drugs of Abuse; Analytical Chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytisk farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry; Biology with specialization in Structural Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot strukturbiologi;

    Abstract : Capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometric (CE–MS) detection offers a separation method without equal in terms of flexibility, utility, and cost efficiency. Here we demonstrate precisely this through the application of several laboratory-built CE–MS instruments for the separation of brain metabolites in non-primates, enantioselective separations of synthetic anesthetic metabolites in fractionated pony urine, application in structural proteomics workflows, and identification of exogenous alkaloid biotransformationproducts in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). 5. 5. Towards application of service oriented architecture in wireless sensor networks

    Author : Rumen Kyusakov; Zach Shelby; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industriell elektronik; Industrial Electronics;

    Abstract : Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are a foreseeable source of innovation in many fields and the number of WSN deployments is expected to grow rapidly in the near future. One of the key challenges in designing, implementing, deploying and maintaining complex systems that use WSNs is provisioning and integration of sensor data with existing communication infrastructures.
