  1. 11. Operating Room Efficiency and Postoperative Recovery after Major Abdominal Surgery : The Surgical Team’s Efficiency and the Early Postoperative Recovery of Patients with Peritoneal Carcinomatosis

    Author : Erebouni Arakelian; Haile Mahteme; Lena Gunningberg; Jan Larsson; Karin Norlén; Gun Nordström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; efficiency; operating room; postoperative recovery; peritoneal carcinomatos; cytoreductive surgery; HIPEC;

    Abstract : In selected patients, surgical treatments such as cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) have enabled curative treatment options for previously incurable diseases, such as peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). The introduction of resource demanding surgery could affect the work process, efficiency, and productivity within a surgical department and factors influencing patient postoperative recovery processes may have an impact on the efficiency of patient care after major surgery. 2. 12. Improved life cycle assessment of wastewater and sludge management with resource recovery

    Author : Sara Heimersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; allocation; LCA; sludge treatment; resource utilisation; sludge handling; biosolids; pathogen risks; wastewater treatment;

    Abstract : Around the world every day, large amounts of wastewater are treated before release, to avoid impacts on humans and the environment. The treatment requires resources in the form of energy and chemicals, and it generates large amounts of sewage sludge, however, it can also serve as a source of energy, nutrients and carbon. 3. 13. Modeling and analysis of restart, transport, and resource allocation in manufacturing systems using sequences of operations

    Author : Patrik Bergagård; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Discrete event systems; Extended finite automata; Error recovery; Manufacturing systems; Restart; Supervisory control theory; Resource allocation;

    Abstract : Highly automated and flexible manufacturing systems have gained industrial popularity for their ability to combine high product volumes with high product quality. However, the process planning, the process to design and plan thetasks and actions, the operations, that constitute the manufacturing process, is a complex and time consuming process. READ MORE

  4. 14. Essays on environmental and development economics : Public policy, resource prices and global warming

    Author : Linda Sahlén; Thomas Aronsson; Kenneth Backlund; Ing-Marie Gren; Umeå universitet; []

  5. 15. Forest industry sludge as a resource for energy recovery

    Author : Alina Hagelqvist; Ola Holby; Karin Granström; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Abstract : Forest industries produce large amounts of carbon rich sludges as by-products in their processes. Presently sludge is treated as a poor quality biofuel for co-incineration, some mills treat it solely as a disposal problem. This thesis provides an introduction to production, composition and disposal issues of sludge. READ MORE
