1. New Modelling Approaches for Location and Routing Problems towards Sustainable Logistic Systems
Abstract : Transportations are paramount for a well-functioning society and necessary to secure essential products and maintain our standard of living. These are operations and activities related to distributing packages and goods and providing services by society such as waste collection, postal services, health care, or emergency response. 2. Clinical evaluation and implications of left atrial remodeling in atrial fibrillation : From silent cerebral lesions and atrial stunning to novel electrocardiographic tools for prediction of arrhythmia outcome
Abstract : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia. Left atrial (LA) remodeling and reverse remodeling are associated with cerebral involvement and cognitive function (CF) changes. Risk stratification for AF related outcomes is essential in the management of patients with AF. READ MORE

3. Timed Up-and-Go Dual-Task Tests for Early Detection of Dementia Disorder
Abstract : Dementia constitutes an important and growing public health concern. There is a need for new, simple, and inexpensive methods to detect dementia disorders early in the disease progression. For this purpose, dual-tasking, i.e. READ MORE

4. Automated quantification of plasma metabolites by NMR to study prostate cancer risk biomarkers
Abstract : Targeted quantitative NMR-based metabolomics can be used to identify disease risk biomarkers. However, NMR-based metabolomics yields complex spectra with signals from many different metabolites. These signals are often located within close proximity and, therefore, signal interferences are observed. READ MORE

5. Clinical characteristics and prognosis of peripartum cardiomyopathy
Abstract : Background:Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is an incompletely understood disease that causes significant morbidity and mortality in many parts of the world, including Northern Nigeria. The aims of this Thesis were: [1] to determine if selenium deficiency, serum ceruloplasmin and traditional birth practices are risk factors for PPCM, in Kano, Nigeria; [2] to describe the one year survival and left ventricular reverse remodeling (LVRR) in a group of patients with PPCM from three referral hospitals in Kano, Nigeria; [3] to identify potential electrocardiographic (ECG) predictors of PPCM; and [4] to assess right ventricular systolic dysfunction (RVSD) and remodelling in a cohort of PPCM patients in Kano, Nigeria.
