  1. 1. Reuse-based Reverse Value Chain for Sustainable Apparel Industry

    Author : Manoj Kumar Paras; Anca Draghici; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Reverse value chain; Reuse; Value creation; Apparel industry; Second hand clothing; Omvänd värdekedja; Återanvändning; Värdetillverkning; Klädindustri; Second-hand kläder; Textil och mode generell ; Textiles and Fashion General ;

    Abstract : The reverse value chain is a concept that maximizes the utility of a product after end-of-life or end-of-use. Its main components are reuse, repair, up-cycling and down-cycling. This thesis has investigated the business of apparel ‘reuse’ to develop a reuse-based reverse value chain model for apparel industry. READ MORE

  2. 2. On Aligning Returns Management with the E-commerce Strategy to Increase Effectiveness

    Author : Klas Hjort; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Returns management; supply chain management; alignment; case study; experimental research; gatekeeping; avoidance; reverse logistics; strategy; e-commerce; Logistik; Handel och IT; Bussiness and IT;

    Abstract : The returns management (RM) process has traditionally been seen as a value recovery process, which has resulted in an efficiency focus in the returns flow. This thesis present, the effects on a fashion e-commerce organisation, which is underprioritising or neglecting RM in general and consumer returns specifically. READ MORE

  3. 3. HIV-1 reverse transcriptase as a target in the development of specific enzyme inhibitors

    Author : Hong Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Human immunodeficiency virus type I (HIV-I), which causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), begins its intracellular infection life cycle with reverse transcription of its plus-strand RNA genome into a double-stranded proviral DNA intermediate which is integrated into the host chromosome inducing a persistent infection. A virally encoded enzyme, reverse transcriptase (RT), carries out the reverse transcription process by performing all three enzymatic activities, i. READ MORE

  4. 4. Diversity and dynamics of Plasmodium falciparum malaria

    Author : Anna Färnert; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : malaria; Plasmodium falciparum; diversity; genotyping; PCR; msp1; msp2; glurp; dynamics; synchronicity; consistency; clinical protection; transmission; Tanzania; travellers;

    Abstract : The epidemiology of genetic diversity of malaria parasites in relation to clinical parameters, acquisition of immunity and malaria transmission has implications for the development and evaluation of control measures such as vaccines and drugs. The diversity and dynamics of Plasmodium falciparum infections were therefore studied with a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based genotyping method targeting three highly polymorphic genes coding for potential vaccine candidate antigens: the two merozoite surface proteins msp1 block 2 and msp2 and the glutamine rich protein (glurp). 5. 5. Expression profiling using manifold supports

    Author : Anette Hagberg; Joakim Lundeberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; mRNA; expression; minimal residual disease MRD ; chronic myeloid leukemia CML ; recombinant human erythropoietin r-HuEpo ; anemia; insulin dependent diabetes mellitus IDDM ; transplantation; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Abstract : Analyses of mRNA provides a condensed view of gene structure and quantitative analysis can reveal the induction of physiological or pathological gene expression programs. This thesis describes a new method for mRNA isolation, followed by sensitive real time detection via polymerase chain reaction (PCR), in order to quantitate transcripts of interest. READ MORE
