  1. 16. Molecular and Genetic Evidence for Antigen Selection in the Pathogenesis of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

    Author : Lesley Ann Sutton; Richard Rosenquist; John Gribben; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; IGHV4-34; microenvironment; stereotypy; immunoglobulin; intraclonal diversification; clonal evolution;

    Abstract : Antigens play a critical role in the development of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) by binding to and stimulating leukemic precursor cells at some point during CLL ontogeny. Nevertheless, much remains unknown and further studies are necessary before an accurate model of antigen-drive can be ascertained. READ MORE

  2. 17. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Different B cell Lymphomas : With Focus on Cellular Origin and Antigen Selection

    Author : Mia Thorsélius; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; Christer Sundström; Anders Rosén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; B cell lymphoma; Immunoglobulin; V gene; somatic hypermutation; antigen selection; quantitative PCR; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : B cell lymphoma (BCL) comprises a biologically and clinically heterogeneous group of tumors deriving from different stages of B cell development. The immunoglobulin (Ig) variable heavy chain (VH) gene rearrangement is unique for each BCL and can be used to reveal cellular origin, to study signs of antigen selection and to quantify tumor cell load. 3. 18. Minimal Residual Disease Assessment in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

    Author : Ingrid Thörn; Christer Sundström; Richard Rosenquist; Gisela Barbany; Johan Botling; Kjeld Schmiegelow; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia; minimal residual disease; IG TCR gene rearrangements; BCR-ABL1 fusion gene transcripts; real-time quantitative PCR; multicolor flow cytometry; Pathology; Patologi; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : Traditionally, response to treatment in hematological malignancies is evaluated by light microscopy of bone marrow (BM) smears, but due to more effective therapies more sensitive methods are needed. Today, detection of minimal residual disease (MRD) using immunological and molecular techniques can be 100 times more sensitive than morphology. READ MORE

  4. 19. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia : Characterization of New Prognostic and Biological Subsets

    Author : Gerard Tobin; Richard Rosenquist; Christer Sundström; Anna Laurell; Nicholas Chiorazzi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; chronic lymphocytic leukemia; immunoglobulin genes; VH3-21; CDR3; P2X7; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : Recent studies have shown that the somatic mutation status of the immunoglobulin (Ig) VH genes can divide chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) into two prognostic subsets, since cases with mutated VH genes display superior survival compared to unmutated cases. Biased VH gene usage has also been reported in CLL which may reflect antigen selection. READ MORE

  5. 20. Analysis of Immunoglobulin Genes and Telomeres in B cell Lymphomas and Leukemias

    Author : Sarah Walsh; Richard Rosenquist; Christer Sundström; Anna Laurell; Andreas Rosenwald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; B cell lymphoma leukemia; mantle cell lymphoma; hairy cell leukemia; lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma; immunoglobulin genes; antigen selection; telomeres; cellular origin; somatic hypermutation; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : B cell lymphomas and leukemias are heterogeneous tumors with different cellular origins. Analysis of immunoglobulin (Ig) genes enables insight into the B cell progenitor, as Ig somatic hypermutation correlates with antigen-related B cell transit through the germinal center (GC). READ MORE
