  1. 1. Reconstruction of the Southeast Asian hydro-climate using biomarkers and their hydrogen isotopic composition

    Author : Yamoah Kweku Kyei Afrifa; Rienk Smittenberg; Barbara Wohlfarth; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Abstract : Southeast Asia is characterized by a monsoonal climate, with distinct wet and dry seasons. This has great impact on societies, agriculture and infrastructures. READ MORE

  2. 2. Paleoclimate and seasonality on Sumatra during the Late Glacial and Holocene : Insights from biomarkers and climate model simulations

    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Holocene; Late Glacial; biomarkers; organic geochemistry; climate model; hydrogen isotopes; stable isotopes; paleoclimate; alkanes; GDGT; brGDGT; H-GDGT; bacterial community shifts; paleothermometry; precipitation reconstruction; peat; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Abstract : Deep atmospheric convection in the Indo-Pacific Warm Pool (IPWP) is a key driver of the Hadley and Walker Circulations that modulate the Asian-Australian monsoons and the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO). Temperature and rainfall seasonality, i.e. READ MORE

  3. 3. Organic geochemical investigation of sources, transport and fate of terrestrial organic matter in the southeast Laptev Sea

    Abstract : Permafrost carbon stores have been suggested to react to warming trends with increased terrestrial loading to its coastal waters. Presently, the warming has been seen to be especially high in the East Siberian Arctic and the fate of the major release of terrestrial matter to these coasts is yet to be detailed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Holocene environmental changes and climate variability in the Eastern Mediterranean : Multiproxy sediment records from the Peloponnese peninsula, SW Greece

    Author : Christos Katrantsiotis; Stefan Wastegård; Rienk Smittenberg; Jan Risberg; Elin Norström; Sherilyn Fritz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mediterranean; Greece; Peloponnese; Holocene; sediments; diatoms; n-alkanes; stable isotopes; tectonics; climate variability; monsoons; NAO; NCP; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents multiproxy reconstructions of the mid to late Holocene climate and environmental changes in the Peloponnese peninsula, SW Greece. The combined dataset consists of diatom, biomarker and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) elemental data in radiocarbon-dated sediment cores taken from the Agios Floros fen and the Gialova Lagoon in SW Peloponnese and the Ancient Lake Lerna in NE Peloponnese. 5. 5. Microbially mediated formation of birnessite-type manganese oxides and subsequent incorporation of rare earth elements, Ytterby mine, Sweden

    Author : Susanne Sjöberg; Christophe Dupraz; Rienk Smittenberg; Volker Brüchert; Helena Filipsson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microbial diversity; manganese oxides; birnessite; rare earth elements; subterranean; Ytterby mine; geokemi; Geochemistry;

    Abstract : Microbes exert extensive control on redox element cycles. They participate directly orindirectly in the concentration and fractionation of elements by influencing the partitioningbetween soluble and insoluble species. READ MORE
