  1. 6. Communication in Games and Decision Making under Risk

    Author : Erik Wengström; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Communication; Repeated Bertrand Games Cooperation; Renegotiation; Experiments; Risk Aversion; Non-cooperative Game Theory; Selection; Loss Aversion; Timing of Uncertainty Resolution;

    Abstract : This thesis is divided into two distinct parts. The first part studies communication in games and the second part investigates individual decision making under risk. Chapters 2 – 4, co-authored with Ola Andersson, investigate communication and renegotiation in dynamic games. READ MORE

  2. 7. Risk assessment of chemical mixtures in the aquatic environment

    Author : Mikael Gustavsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemical mixtures; Risk assessment; Pesticides; Industrial chemicals; REACH; Chemical monitoring;

    Abstract : The total chemical production within the European Union amounts to more than 300 million tonnes per year, of which 140 million tonnes are considered as hazardous to the environment. In order to ensure that these chemicals do not have harmful effects under normal use, likely environmental concentrations are compared to assumed environmentally safe concentration, and only if the resulting risk is deemed acceptable is the product or chemical allowed for use. 3. 8. Risk Assessment and Decision Support for Managing Drinking Water Systems

    Author : Andreas Lindhe; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; drinking water; risk assessment; decision analysis; water safety plan; water supply; multi-criteria decision analysis; dynamic fault tree analysis;

    Abstract : The vital importance of a reliable and safe drinking water supply makes efficient risk management necessary for water utilities. Risks must be assessed and possible risk-reduction measures evaluated to provide relevant decision support. READ MORE

  4. 9. Evaluation of image quality and diagnostic accuracy in breast tomosynthesis. Comparison with digital mammography and estimates of radiation risk

    Author : Tony Svahn; Malmö Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diagnostic accuracy; breast tomosynthesis BT ; digital mammography DM ; average glandular dose AGD ; receiver operating characteristics ROC ; risk assessment; search-model SM ; proper ROC PROPROC ;

    Abstract : Recent advances in the digital detector technology have paved the way for modalities such as two-dimensional digital mammography (DM) and three-dimensional breast tomosynthesis (BT). In this work, experimental studies were conducted to investigate the influence of reducing the average glandular dose (AGD) on detection of simulated lesions in DM and to compare the diagnostic accuracy of BT and DM. 5. 10. Prenatal Ultrasound and X-ray - Potentially Adverse Effects on the CNS

    Author : Karin Glimskär Stålberg; Helle Kieler; Ove Axelsson; Bengt Haglund; Eleni Petridou; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Obstetrics and gynaecology; ultrasound; X-ray; fetus; risk; childhood cancer; schizophrenia; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar;

    Abstract : The aim with this thesis was to assess the impact of prenatal ultrasound exposure on psychotic illness, childhood brain tumors (CBT) and school achievement, and to evaluate prenatal X-ray exposure and the risk of CBT.In a cohort study, children born in Malmö 1973-1978, where prenatal ultrasound was used routinely, were considered exposed (n=13, 212) and children born at hospitals with no use of ultrasound, were considered unexposed (n=357,733).
