  1. 11. Robust Platforms for Superconductivity : Disorder Robustness and Topological Density of States Peaks

    Author : Tomas Löthman; Annica M. Black-Schaffer; Carsten Honerkamp; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Odd-Frequency Superconductivity; Nematic superconductivity; Topological Phases of Matter; Flat bands; Van Hove Singularity; Graphene; Twisted Bilayer Graphene; Rhombohedral graphite; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : We explore the connection between robust material platforms for superconductivity and the modern condensed matter physics paradigms of two-dimensional materials, topological states of matter, and odd-frequency superconductivity. Specifically, the recent discoveries of gapless topological matter and truly two-dimensional materials with graphene have greatly expanded the class of materials for which topology produces large, robust, even singular, density of states (DOS) peaks in the electronic structure that in turn are highly susceptible to new ordered states of matter, including superconductivity. 2. 12. Toward Robust Optimization of Adaptive Radiation Therapy

    Author : Michelle Böck; Anders Forsgren; Minsun Kim; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; optimization; adaptive radiation therapy; radiation therapy treatment planning; uncertainty; robust optimization; stochastic programming; Tillämpad matematik och beräkningsmatematik; Applied and Computational Mathematics;

    Abstract : Adaptive radiation therapy is an evolving cancer treatment approach which relies on adapting the treatment plan in response to patient-specific interfractional geometric variations occurring during the fractionated treatment. If those variations are not addressed through adaptive replanning, the resulting treatment quality may be compromised. READ MORE

  3. 13. On Soft Decoding and Robust Vector Quantization

    Author : Mikael Skoglund; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; speech and image coding; intersymbol interference; Rayleigh fading; soft decoding; CDMA; index assignment; Hadamard transform; channel optimized VQ; robust VQ; combined source-channel coding; vector quantization VQ ; noisy channels;

    Abstract : This thesis considers vector quantization for noisy channels. Vector quantization (VQ) is an important technique for block-based source coding, with applications in, e.g., speech and image coding. READ MORE

  4. 14. The Influence of Learning on Naturalization of New Practices -The Case of Robust Design in Product Development

    Author : Azadeh Fazl Mashhadi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : The Influence of Learning on Naturalization of New Practices– the Case of Robust Design in Product DevelopmentAzadeh Fazl MashhadiDepartment of Technology Management and EconomicsDivision of Quality SciencesChalmers University of TechnologyABSTRACTCustomers appreciate a robust product which performs its desired function consistently and independently of the sources of variation during its life cycle. In order to deliver a robust design to customers, the upstream activities during the product development process should proactively support such a result. READ MORE

  5. 15. Extended Application of Robust Design Methodology

    Author : Vanajah Siva Subramaniam; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; practices; life cycle approach; Robust design methodology; back-end data; sustainable product development;

    Abstract : Robust Design Methodology (RDM), a subset of Quality Management (QM), is an approach applied to the design phase of product development in order to manage variability in product performance by creating insensitivity to noise factors. Noise factors are sources of variation that cannot be readily controlled. READ MORE
