  1. 1. The Use of Lignin Derivatives to Improve Selected Paper Properties

    Author : Stefan Antonsson; Mikael E. Lindström; Gunnar Henriksson; Mats Johansson; Docent Roland Agnemo Tek. Dr. Harald Brelid; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft lignin; black liquor; cross-flow filtration; lignin derivative; kraftliner; oxidative coupling; laccase; manganese; linseed oil; mechano-sorptive creep; kraftlignin; svartlut; tvärsflödesfiltrering; ligninderivat; kraftliner; oxidativ koppling; lackas; mangan; linolja; mekanosorptivt kryp; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : Ved består huvudsakligen av tre typer av polymerer, cellulosa, hemicellulosa och lignin. Lignin bildas i naturen genom enzymatiskt initierad oxidativ koppling av tre olika typer av fenylpropan-enheter. Dessa bygger genom olika kol-kol- och kol-syre-bindningar upp en amorf tredimensionell polymer. READ MORE

  2. 2. To grip and not to slip : sensorimotor mechanisms in reactive control of grasp stability

    Author : Charlotte Häger Ross; Roland S. Johansson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; human; hand; precision grip; grasp force; friction; cutaneous mechanoreceptors; sensorimotor integration; motor control;

    Abstract : The reactive control of fingertip forces maintaining grasp stability was examined in man during a prehensile task. Blindfolded subjects used the precision grip between the tips of index finger and thumb to restrain an object that was subjected to unpredictable load forces. These were delivered tangential to the parallel grip surfaces of the object. READ MORE

  3. 3. Structural and functional changes in the brain after surgically repaired median nerve injury

    Author : Per F. Nordmark; Roland S. Johansson; Henrik Ehrsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Humans; Hand; Touch; Peripheral nerve injury; Magnetic resonance imaging; Somatosensory Cortex; Cortical plasticity; fysiologi; Physiology; handkirurgi; hand surgery;

    Abstract : Despite the best available surgical repair, traumatic median nerve injury within the forearm typically causes lifelong impairment in hand function. This stems from an inadequate reinnervation of the nerves supporting sensory functions of the thumb, index and long finger, and of nerves supplying intrinsic hand muscles. READ MORE

  4. 4. Patients with subacromial pain in primary care : Assessment and efficacy of physiotherapy-guided exercise treatment

    Author : Jenny Nordqvist; Birgitta Öberg; Kajsa Johansson; Lars Adolfsson; Roland Thomeé; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Background: Shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder and 40-74% of the patients attending primary healthcare with a shoulder disorder are diagnosed with subacromial pain. Subacromial pain is characterized by restricted and painful movement of the arm that leads to difficulties in performing arm-related activities and often affects the quality of life profoundly, with respect to everyday function, work capacity, sleep quality and mental health. 5. 5. To select one hand while using both : neural mechanisms supporting flexible hand dominance in bimanual object manipulation

    Author : Anna Theorin; Roland Johansson; Fredrik Ullén; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; object manipulation; bimanual coordination; action selection; cerebral cortex; functional laterality; humans; hand; magnetic resonance imaging; transcranial magnetic stimulation; electromyography; Physiology; Fysiologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Abstract : In daily activities, the brain regularly assigns different roles to the hands dependingon task and context. Yet, little is known about the underlying neural processes. Thiscertainly applies to how the brain, where each hemisphere primarily controls onehand, manages the between-hand coordination required in bimanual objectmanipulation. READ MORE
