11. Numerical simulation of thermomechanical rolling contact using an arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation
Abstract : In the endeavour to further the understanding of thermomechanical rolling contact, numerical simulations serve as an important complement to laboratory and full-scale testing. In the development of numerical simulation methods, the challenge is to enhance predictive capabilities while keeping computational efforts reasonable. READ MORE

12. Numerical simulation of thermomechanically coupled transient rolling contact - An arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian approach
Abstract : Numerical simulation of rolling contact serves as an important complement to laboratory and full-scale testing in the endeavour to further the understanding of related physical mechanisms, e.g. the influence of friction on the rolling motion, the thermomechanical interaction, damage phenomena and related modes of failure. 13. Modelling and experimental testing of truck tyre rolling resistance
Abstract : Truck transport offers a versatile way to ship goods in regional, long haulage and urban applications. However, the heavy truck sector accounts for 6 % of total greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union. Therefore, there is a need for a substantial reduction of these emissions to secure the sustainability of Earth for future generations. READ MORE

14. Computational modeling of hot rolling
Abstract : This thesis consists of six papers on finite element simulations of the hot rolling of plates. Different friction and material models have been evaluated. The work includes both numerical simulation and experimental verification. READ MORE

15. On the influence of surface roughness on rolling contact forces
Abstract : Road vehicle tyres, railway wheels and ball bearings all generate rolling contact forces which are transferred within a finite area of contact between the rolling element and the substrate. Either it is visible or not for the human eye, a certain degree of roughness is always present on the contacting surfaces and it influences the generation of both vertical and lateral contactforces.
