    Abstract : This study focuses on mediated representations of Europe during Euromaidan and the subsequent Ukraine–Russia crisis, analysing empirical material from Ukraine, Poland and Russia. The material includes articles from nine newspapers, diverse in terms of political and journalistic orientation, as well as interviews with journalists, foreign policymakers and experts, drawing also on relevant policy documents as well as online and historical sources.     Abstract : The subject matter of this study forms an analysis of Axel Hägerström’s (1868-1939) theories of law and legal science - ideas that were formative both for the Uppsala School and Scandinavian Legal Realism. By means of a close analysis of Hägerström’s epistemology and ontology, the general principles of his theory of science have been outlined, especially the marked stance of anti-metaphysics (anti-subjectivism), the logical notion of reality, and the application of conceptual analyses.     Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to examine the use of symbolic power at the establishment of the Second Bulgarian Empire and the Cilician kingdom of Armenia, and to further explore and discuss problems of language, translation, ethnography, legitimacy, culture and distinctions between “East” and “West” through these cases. Despite their geographical distance and diverse histories, these regions are united through a past of Byzantine domination and by their entering into unions with the Roman Papacy at this time.
