  1. 1. Thioredoxin system in normal and transformed human cells

    Author : Bita Sahaf; Anders Rosén; L. A. Herzenberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Background: Thioredoxin (Trx) and thioredoxin reductase (TrxR), together with NADPH, constitute the Trx system, a major antioxidant entity that helps maintain a reducing environment within living cells. Trx designates a family of proteins that are related on the basis of structure and function. READ MORE

  2. 2. Small energy isotopies of loose Legendrian submanifolds

    Author : Lukas Nakamura; Tobias Ekholm; Álvaro del Pino Gómez; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; contact geometry; Legendrian submanifolds; Chekanov-Shelukhin-Hofer energy; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Abstract : In the first paper, we prove that for a closed Legendrian submanifold L of dimension n>2 with a loose chart of size η, any Legendrian isotopy starting at L can be C0-approximated by a Legendrian isotopy with energy arbitrarily close to η/2. This in particular implies that the displacement energy of loose displaceable Legendrians is bounded by half the size of its smallest loose chart, which proves a conjecture of Dimitroglou Rizell and Sullivan. 3. 3. Decision support for sustainable water security

    Author : Karin Sjöstrand; Dale Whittington; RISE; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; risk assessment; decision support; water security; water availability; multi-criteria decision analysis; water scarcity; sustainability; drinking water supply; cost-benefit analysis; marginal abatement cost curves;

    Abstract : Society’s large dependence on water, in combination with climate, socio-economic and demographic changes, places a massive pressure on our freshwater resources. As a result, water crisis, defined as a significant decline in the available quality and quantity of freshwater, is now considered to be among the most critical global risks to society. READ MORE

  4. 4. Residual stresses in dental composites

    Author : Philippe Lingois; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial; Polymeric Composite Materials;

    Abstract : In several European countries, dental composites are replacing mercury-containing amalgams as the most common restorative materials. The problems with dental composites are they can induce pain for the patient, fracture of the tooth, gap between the tooth and the filling what will induce secondary caries. The main reason is residual stresses. READ MORE
