16. Global stability analysis of three-dimensional boundary layer flows
Abstract : This thesis considers the stability and transition of incompressible boundary layers. In particular, the Falkner–Skan–Cooke boundary layer subject to a cylindrical surface roughness, and the Blasius boundary layer with applied localized suction are investigated. READ MORE

17. The Enemy Below - Adhesion and Friction of Ship Hull Fouling
Abstract : Below the waterline, commercial ships are good targets for marine organisms to attach and proliferate, a problem commonly known as biofouling. A fouled hull means higher hydrodynamic resistance, which can result in significant fuel penalties. READ MORE

18. Getting a Feel for Tactile Space : Exploring Haptic Perception of Microtexture
Abstract : The present thesis is based on three studies that research different aspects of fine texture perception. The goal is to better understand the mechanisms involved in haptic perception of textures below 200 µm, also known as microtextures. READ MORE

19. Surface interactions and adsorbate structures : An atomic force microscopy study
Abstract : Atomic force microscopy, AFM, was used for studying somecurrent topics in the field of surface and colloid science. Themain topics addressed in this thesis were: the nature of thelong-range attraction between hydrophobic surfaces; slidingfriction behavior for microscopic contacts; and interfacialstructuring of polyelectrolyte-nanoparticle multilayerfilms. 20. The influence of stress variations in wet pressing
Abstract : Two methods for the measurement of micro-scale stressvariations of press felt surfaces were developed. The methodswere based on a thin plastic film that was coated with anopaque stress-sensitive layer (Cronapress conversion film). Thefilm was compressed between a felt and a smooth surface. READ MORE
