  1. 1. Freshwater methane and carbon dioxide fluxes : Spatio-temporal variability and an integrated assessment of lake and stream emissions in a catchment

    Author : Sivakiruthika Natchimuthu; David Bastviken; Åsa Danielsson; Peter A. Raymond; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Lakes; streams; spatio-temporal variability; CH4 flux; CO2 flux; gas transfer velocity; Sjöar; vattendrag; rumsliga och tidsmässiga variationer; CH4-flöden; CO2-flöden; gasutbyteshastighet;

    Abstract : Freshwater bodies such as lakes and streams release the greenhouse gases methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. Global freshwater CH4 and CO2 emissions have been estimated to be of a similar magnitude to the global land or ocean carbon sink, and are thus significant components of global carbon budgets. 2. 2. CO2 Emissions from Northern Lakes : Insights on regulation and spatiotemporal variability across contrasting lakes in Sweden

    Author : David Rudberg; David Bastviken; Paul Hanson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lake; CO2 flux; Spatiotemporal variability; Empirical models; Sjö; Koldioxid-flöde; Rumsliga och tidsmässiga variationer; Empiriska modeller;

    Abstract : Lakes cover only ~2 % of the global land area, but their connections to the surrounding catchment make them important for the global carbon cycle. A considerable amount of the carbon input to lakes is emitted to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide (CO2) through diffusive flux. READ MORE

  3. 3. Solar Activity Changes at the End of the Last Ice Age - Influences on Climate and Applications for Dating

    Author : Florian Adolphi; BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Solar Activity; 10Be; 14C; radiocarbon calibration; time scale; geochronology; paleoclimate; ice cores; tree rings; IntCal; cosmogenic radionuclides;

    Abstract : Throughout its history Earth experienced a variety of natural climate changes. By investigating their spatial and temporal evolution we can increase the understanding of the mechanisms and dynamics underlying natural climate change and improve our general comprehension of the climate system. 4. 4. Study on the Earth’s Surface Mass Variations using Satellite Gravimetry Observations

    Author : Hadi Amin; Mohammad Bagherbandi; Lars Sjöberg; Faramarz Nilfouroushan; Martin Horwath; Högskolan i Gävle; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geodetic reference system; geoid potential; global vertical datum; climate change; global warming; mass change; ice melting; sea-level change; remote sensing; satellite gravimetry; geodetiska referenssystem; geopotential; globala vertikala datum; klimatförändring; global uppvärmning; massförändring; issmältning; havsnivåförändring; fjärranalys; satellitgravimetri;

    Abstract : Our complex planet is continuously undergoing temporal and spatial changes. In this context, ongoing processes in the Earth subsystems (geosphere, biosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere) cause changes in the gravity field of the Earth across a wide range of temporal and spatial scales.
