  1. 16. Prediction of Wing Section Lift and Drag from Numerical Solutions of the Navier-Stokes Equations

    Author : Björn Regnström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; airfoil; incompresible flow; computational fluid dynamics; transition; numerical analysis; boundary layer stability;

    Abstract : A Navier-Stokes finite difference method is developed and applied to two-dimensional, incompressible, viscous flow around wing sections at medium to high Reynolds numbers. An important feature of such flows is laminar boundary layers with spatially amplified Tollmien-Schlichting waves initiating transition to turbulence. READ MORE

  2. 17. Transonic flow: large eddy simulation, numerical methods and subgrid modeling

    Author : Christian Wollblad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LES; SGS modeling; Transonic flow; semi-implicit numerical scheme; shock wave turbulent boundary layer interaction;

    Abstract : Shock wave turbulent boundary layer interactions (SWTBLI) commonly arise in turbomachinery and aerospace applications and on the exterior of high speed aircrafts. In all these cases, SWTBLI can significantly change the flow and hence the physical load imposed by it. READ MORE

  3. 18. Numerical studies of turbulent wall-jets for mixing and combustion applications

    Author : Daniel Ahlman; Arne Johansson; Geert Brethouwer; Micheal Manhart; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Direct numerical simulation is used to study turbulent plane wall-jets. The investigation is aimed at studying dynamics, mixing and reactions in wall bounded flows. The produced mixing statistics can be used to evaluate and develop models for mixing and combustion. READ MORE

  4. 19. Mathematical Analysis of Forced Convective Flow Due to Stretching Sheet and Instabilities of Natural Convective Flow

    Author : Prashant G Metri; Sergei Silvestrov; Rebei Bel-Fdhila; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Boundary layer theory; Heat and Mass transfer; Partial differential equations; Stretching sheet; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : The investigations presented in the thesis are theoretical studies of magnetohydrodynamic flows, heat and mass transfer in Newtonian/non-Newtonian cooling liquids, due to horizontal/vertical stretching sheet. The theoretical studies include the effect of magnetic field, uniform and non-uniform heat source/sink (flow and temperature dependent heat source/sink) effects. READ MORE

  5. 20. Numerical investigation of blade flutter at or near stall in axial turbomachines

    Author : Wolfgang Höhn; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : During the design of the compressor and turbine stages oftoday's aeroengines aerodynamically induced vibrations becomeincreasingly important since higher blade load and betterefficiency are desired. Aerodynamically induced vibrations inturbomachines can be classified into two general categories,i.e. READ MORE
