11. Exercise-induced muscle soreness : a qualitative and quantitative study of human muscle morphology and function
Abstract : Exercise-induced muscle soreness is characterized by stiffness, tenderness and pain during active movements and weakness of the affected musculature the days after unusually or particularly heavy work. The most pronounced subjective symptoms do not arise immediately but rather between a couple of hours to some days after the exercise (a delayed-onset of muscle soreness), the intensity of pain is greatest about 48 hours after the work. 12. Laminated Veneer Products : Shape Stability and Effect of Enhanced Formability on Bond-Line Strength
Abstract : This thesis concerns two aspects of the manufacture of laminated veneer products (LVPs). The first aspect is related to the possible improvement of the shape stability of LVPs, and the second has its starting point in the modification of the veneer for enhanced formability as well as the question of whether and how these modifications affect the bond-line strength. 13. The effect of stress state in ductile failure
Abstract : The industrial application of high strength steels in structural components has increased the demand on understanding the ductile failure behavior of this type of materials. In practical situations the loading experienced on components made out of these materials can be very complex, which may affect the failure behavior. READ MORE

14. Towards surgical use of matrix metalloproteinase biology
Abstract : Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), such as collagenases, are a family of enzymes capable of degrading most constituents of the extracellular matrix. MMPs are thought to be involved in the aetiopathogenesis of tendon rupture. Additionally, failure of healing has in some instances been associated with elevated levels of MMPs. READ MORE

15. Intrasynovial flexor tendon injuries and repair
Abstract : Complications after surgical repair of intrasynovial flexor tendon injuries in the hand occur despite advanced suture techniques and structured postoperative rehabilitation regimens. Early controlled tendon mobilization prevents adhesion formations and improves tendon healing as well as digit range of motion. READ MORE
