  1. 1. Disturbed sleep and emotion : a developmental perspective

    Author : Nanette S. Danielsson; Steven J Linton; Markus Jansson-Fröjmark; Børge Sivertsen; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; sleep disturbance; emotion dysregulation; catastrophic worry; sleep-onset; partial sleep deprivation; neuroticism; depressive symptoms; Psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : Sleep disturbances are not only defining features, but also diagnostic criteria for most psychiatric disorders. Recently, researchers have proposed a theoretic role for sleep disturbances in emotion dysregulation, subsequently linking neurobiological processes and psychopathology. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Quest for Robust Model Selection Methods in Linear Regression

    Author : Prakash Borpatra Gohain; Magnus Jansson; K.V.S Hari; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Model selection; information criterion; linear regression; sparsity; high dimensional; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik; Mathematical Statistics; Matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : A fundamental requirement in data analysis is fitting the data to a model that can be used for the purpose of prediction and knowledge discovery. A typical and favored approach is using a linear model that explains the relationship between the response and the independent variables. READ MORE

  3. 3. Oxidative damage and the DNA glycosylase MutYH

    Author : Kristina Jansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oxidative damage; 8-oxo-7; 8-dihydro-2′-deoxyguanosine; Base excision repair; DNA glycosylase; Mismatch repair; DNA damage checkpoint; 9-1-1 complex; Glutathione-S-transferases; Colon cancer.;

    Abstract : The DNA glycosylase MutYH is highly conserved throughout evolution, and homologs are found in most eukaryotes and prokaryotes examined. MutYH functions as a base excision repair DNA glycosylase that excises adenines misincorporated opposite 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2′-deoxyguanosine (8-oxodG), one of the most stable products of oxidative DNA damage. 4. 4. Structural enzymology of the biosynthesis of polyketide antibiotics

    Author : Anna Jansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : X-ray crystallography; anthracycline; polyketide; Streptomyces; S-adenosyl-Lmethionine; methyltransferase; hydroxylase; aldol-condensation.;

    Abstract : Anthracyclines are an important group of aromatic antibiotics that exhibit antitumour activity, which makes them useful in treatment of various cancers. They are synthesised in the polyketide biosynthetic pathway as secondary metabolites by different Streptomyces species. READ MORE

  5. 5. Occupational and socio-economic factors in the etiology of cancer of the esophagus and gastric cardia

    Author : Catarina Jansson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Esophageal cancer; adenocarcinoma; squamous-cell carcinoma; occupational exposures; socio-economic status; socio-economic factors;

    Abstract : Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus and gastric cardia and squamous-cell carcinoma of the esophagus have a poor prognosis. The increasing incidence and the strong male predominance of esophageal and cardia adenocarcinoma are striking, and yet unexplained, patterns that should be due to unknown environmental factors.
