1. A Cacophony of Voices : A Neoclassical Realist study of United States Strategy toward Central Asia and Southern Caucasus 1991–2006
Abstract : U.S. strategy toward Southern Caucasus and Central Asia has not been studied sufficiently. READ MORE

2. Molecular characterization of the Ro52 autoantigen and its disease related epitopes
Abstract : The presence of high titers of autoantibodies in patient sera is characteristic for the autoimmune disorder Sjögren s syndrome. The major targets for these autoantibodies are three intracellular proteins Ro52, Ro60 and La. It is still unclear why these proteins become targets for the immune system, and how this autoreactivity is triggered. READ MORE

3. Histamine receptors and neuropeptides in the cranial circulation
Abstract : The sensory neuropeptides substance P (SP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) are present in human cerebral, meningeal and temporal arteries, as are peptides associated with the sympathetic (neuropeptide Y, NPY) and parasympathetic (vasoactive intestinal peptide, VIP) nervous system. NPY is a vasoconstrictor in cerebral and meningeal arteries and potentiates noradrenaline (NA) as a vasoconstrictor in temporal arteries. READ MORE

4. Integration of Constraint Programming and Integer Programming for Combinatorial Optimization
Abstract : The last several years have seen an increasing interest in combining the models and methods of optimization with those of constraint programming. Integration of the two was initially impeded by their different cultural origins, one having developed largely in the operations research community and the other in the computer science and artificial intelligence communities. 5. Ground and Excited State Aromaticity : Design Tools for π-Conjugated Functional Molecules and Materials
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis is on the aromaticity of the ground state and electronically excited states of π-conjugated molecules and polymers, as well as how aromaticity is connected to their properties. The electronic structures of polybenzenoid hydrocarbons (PBHs) were explored through density functional theory (DFT) calculations and the π-component of the electron localization function (ELFπ).
