  1. 1. Emerging Paradigms in the Convergence of Cloud and High-Performance Computing

    Author : Daniel Araújo De Medeiros; Ivy Bo Peng; Stefano Markidis; Pawel Herman; Valeria Cardellini; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-performance computing; Kubernetes; airflow; elastic scaling; MPI; S3; Datalogi; Computer Science;

    Abstract : Traditional HPC scientific workloads are tightly coupled, while emerging scientific workflows exhibit even more complex patterns, consisting of multiple characteristically different stages that may be IO-intensive, compute-intensive, or memory-intensive. New high-performance computer systems are evolving to adapt to these new requirements and are motivated by the need for performance and efficiency in resource usage. READ MORE

  2. 2. Effects of Protons and Small Alcohols on the Oxygen-Evolving Complex of Photosystem II

    Author : Paulina Geijer; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; EPR; pH; methanol; S3; S2; S0; YZ; Mn cluster; Oxygen-evolving complex; S-states; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Abstract : Higher plants and algae use oxygenic photosynthesis to convert solar energy to reducing equivalents and chemical energy. The ultimate electron donor to oxygenic photosynthesis is water. Oxidation of water to oxygen occurs in the oxygen-evolving complex (OEC) in Photosystem II (PSII). The OEC is composed of four Mn atoms, Ca2+ and Cl-. READ MORE

  3. 3. Iterative decoding of product codes

    Author : Omar Al-Askary; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Iterative decoding of block codes is a rather old subjectthat regained much interest recently. The main idea behinditerative decoding is to break up the decoding problem into asequence of stages, iterations, such that each stage utilizesthe output from the previous stages to formulate its ownresult. 5. 5. Selected topics in frequency estimation

    Author : Tomas Andersson; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Frequency estimation has been studied for a number of years.One reason for this is that the problem is easy to understand,but difficult to solve. Another reason, for sure, is the largenumber of applications that involves frequency estimation, e. READ MORE
