16. Accelerator-driven systems : safety and kinetics
Abstract : The accelerator-driven system (ADS) is recognized as a promising system for the purpose of nuclear waste transmutation and minimization of spent fuel radiotoxicity. The primary cause for this derives from its accelerator-driven, sub-critical operating state, which introduces beneficial safety-related features allowing for application of cores employing fuel systems containing pure transuranics or minor actinides, thereby offering increased incineration rate of waste products and minimal deployment of advanced (and expensive) partitioning and transmutation technologies. 18. Evaluating the ISM code using port state control statistics
Abstract : The history of modern maritime safety legislation at the international level is relatively young. Its beginnings are generally associated with the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, a tragedy that resulted in the adoption by an international conference of the first of what was to become a series of versions (1914, 1929, 1948, 1960, 1974) of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS). 19. Prerequisites and Possibilities for Manufacturing Companies to Prioritize and Manage Occupational Health and Safety
Abstract : Legislation demands that health and safety of humans at work must be secured. Today, far from every company has a functioning systematic management of occupational health and safety (OHS) in place to fulfill its legal obligations. Instead, other day-to-day tasks appear to have greater priority. READ MORE

20. Integrated pedestrian safety assessment methodology
Abstract : Pedestrian fatalities and injuries are a concern in many regions. Passive safety assessment is well established, and additional active safety assessment has recently emerged. However, assessment methods reflecting on the interaction between active and passive safety do not exist in regulatory or consumer testing. READ MORE
