  1. 21. Multivariate data analysis of metabolomic multi-tissue samples

    Author : Frida Torell; Johan Trygg; Torbjörn Lundstedt; Thomas Moritz; Kate Bennett; Michal Daszykowski; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Multi-tissue metabolomics involves characterisation of the metabolome of several tissue types. The metabolome consists of small chemical entities of low molecular weight called metabolites, which are constantly produced and interchanged through a vast variety of biochemical reactions occurring throughout living organisms. 2. 22. Time-resolved x-ray diffraction of nanostructured samples

    Author : A. I. H. Persson; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; x-ray diffraction; phonons; optoacoustic transducer; electron diffusion; nanowires; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Persson;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is based on time-resolved x-ray diffraction studies of InSb (111) samples. The experiments were carried out using a pump-probe configuration using short laser pulses as the pump and x-rays as the probe. Laser excitation leads to the formation of a strain pulse that propagates through the sample. READ MORE

  5. 25. Microstructural manipulation by laser irradiation of prepared samples : The ’Snapshot Method’

    Author : Stephanie Robertson; Alexander F.H. Kaplan; Fredrik Sikström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Abstract : Various metallurgical microstructures and their formation are studied in this thesis by using a laser beam to melt a variety of materials with different chemical compositions over a range of thermal cycles. The laser beam was used conventionally in a narrow gap multi-layer weld, used for welding large depths with filler wire additions, as well as a non-traditional simulated welding approach labelled here as the Snapshot method.
