6. Environmentally Degradable Polyethylene : Effects of Additives and Environment on the Degradation and Degradation products
Abstract : This thesis summarises and compares the influences ofdifferent additives (photosensitisers, pro-oxidants, abiodegradable filler) on blown low-density polyethylene (LDPE)films during photo- and thermal degradation with respect tochemical changes in the polymer matrices and identifieddegradation products. Additives studied were irondimethyldithiocarbamate (FeDMC), nickel dibutyldithocarbamate(NiDBC), carbon black, starch, a pro-oxidant that consisted ofmanganese stearate together with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR)or natural rubber (NR) and a master batch containing linearLDPE, starch and pro-oxidant. 7. Development of Methods for Determination of Fat and Trace Constituents in Food, with Emphasis on Supercritical Fluid Extraction
Abstract : Sample preparation is the most time-consuming step in an analysis. Traditional sample preparation techniques consume large amounts of organic solvents, are time-consuming and are difficult to automate. READ MORE

8. Nitritation and denitritation in sludge liquor treatment
Abstract : Enhanced biological nitrogen removal at municipal wastewater treatment plants is a common procedure to prevent eutrophication in water bodies. Increased load, stricter effluent regulations, and demands for reduced resource and energy consumption present new challenges for the wastewater treatment plants. READ MORE

9. Risk of nitrous oxide emissions and potential of bioaugmentation when treating digester supernatant via nitrification-denitrification
Abstract : This thesis examines two different impacts of sidestream treatment of digester supernatant via nitrification-denitrification in a sequenced batch reactor (SBR). One of the impacts is the detrimental formation of nitrous oxide, and the other is the positive boosting of nitrifiers to the mainstream process through bioaugmentation. READ MORE

10. Start-up and operational strategies for deammonification plants : - a study with one-stage moving bed biofilm reactors treating reject water
Abstract : To limit eutrophication, wastewater treatment plants use biological methods to convert degraded nitrogen to nitrogen gas. Deammonification, or partial nitritation in combination with anammox, has been shown to be an energy efficient process. READ MORE
