  1. 1. Of Pipes and Bends

    University dissertation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Jacopo Canton; KTH.; [2018]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear instability; bifurcation; flow control; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : This work is concerned with the transition to turbulence of the flow in bent pipes, but it also includes an analysis of large-scale turbulent structures and their use for flow control.The flow in a toroidal pipe is selected as it represents the common asymptotic limit between spatially developing and helical pipes. 2. 2. Non-equilibrium dynamics of exactly solvable quantum many-body systems

    University dissertation from Stockholm, Sweden : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Per Moosavi; KTH.; [2018]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Recent experimental advances on ultracold atomic gases and trapped ions have made it possible to simulate exactly solvable quantum systems of interacting particles. In particular, the feasibility of making rapid changes, so-called quantum quenches, to such set-ups has allowed experimentalists to probe non-equilibrium phenomena in closed interacting quantum systems. 3. 3. Strong blast wave interaction with multiphase media

    University dissertation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Sembian Sundarapandian; KTH.; [2018]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Blast waves; negative pressure; cavitation; blast wave attenuation; RMI; KHI; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : The interaction of a blast wave propagating in air with different fluids like water column, aqueous foam and thermal/density inhomogeneity have been studied both experimentally and numerically. The blast waves were generated at atmospheric conditions in a newly constructed exploding wire facility. READ MORE

  4. 4. Laminar and turbulent particle laden flows a numerical and experimental study

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Seyed Hamid Tabaeikazerooni; KTH.; [2019]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Suspension flow; inertial effect; turbulent duct flow; finite-size particles; Immersed Boundary Method IBM ; Astigmatism Particle Tracking Velocimetry APTV ; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : Particle laden flows are widespread in nature and in industrial applications. Dust storms, geophysical flows, pharmaceutical processes, fluidized beds and blood flow are only a few examples. Both global and local properties of a particle laden flow may alter significantly in comparison to the corresponding single phase flow. READ MORE

  5. 5. Blood flow and cell transport in arteries and medical assist devices

    University dissertation from KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Niclas Berg; KTH.; [2018]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hemodynamics; CFD; Artherosclerosis; Thrombosis; Platelet activation; Hemorheology; Platelet margination; Teknik och hälsa; Technology and Health;

    Abstract : The cardiovascular system is responsible for transport of nutrients, oxygen, as well as the cells and molecules making up the immune system. Through the hemostatic system, the body maintains the integrity of the blood vessels, and prevents bleeding. READ MORE
