  1. 1. Age differences in arousal, perception of affective pictures, and emotional memory enhancement : Appraisal, Electrodermal activity, and Imaging data

    Author : Joachim Gavazzeni; Håkan Fischer; Richard J. Davidson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Aging; Affective function; subjective ratings; SCRs; FMRI; Pictures; Emotional memory enhancement; Bottom-up and Top-down processing; Psychology; Psykologi; psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : In contrast to effortful cognitive functions, emotional functioning may remain stable or even be enhanced in older adults. It is unclear how affective functions in aging correspond to subjective experiences and physiological changes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Preferential Processing: a factor with implications : Personality traits as explanatory factors

    Author : Mats Najström; Lennart Högman; Anders Flykt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Preferential preattentive processing; trait anxiety; emotional vulnerability; SCR; Psychology; Psykologi; psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : Preferential processing favouring threatening information has received increased attention because cognitive formulations have placed increased emphasis on its role as a key cognitive factor underlying vulnerability to and maintenance of anxiety disorders. The present dissertation comprises four empirical studies within the area of preferential processing. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanisms of phagocytosis resistance in Streptococcus pyogenes

    Author : Heike Kotarsky; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Microbiology; bacteriology; virology; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; fibrinogen; FHL-1; Factor H; M protein; Streptococcus pyogenes; phagocytosis;

    Abstract : A distinguishing feature of Streptococcus pyogenes (GAS) is their ability to resist phagocytosis in whole human blood in the absence of type-specific antibodies, a property that is dependent on the expression of the surface associated M proteins. A common characteristic of M proteins is their interaction with a variety of host proteins including the complement regulatory protein factor H (FH) and fibrinogen that plays a key role in coagulation. 4. 4. On the robust stability analysis of VSC-HVDC systems

    Author : Yujiao Song; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; symbolic eigenvalue expressions; distributed parameter cable model; AC-grid interaction; VSC-HVDC system; passivity theorem; small gain theorem; Nyquist stability analysis;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on small signal stability analysis of VSC-HVDC systems, emphasizing the system stability robustness with regard to the connected AC-grid and the distributed parameter DC-grid model respectively. In addition, for strong AC-grid connected systems, analytical eigenvalue expressions are provided to investigate the impact of physical or control parameters on the system stability for both two-terminal and multi-terminal VSC-HVDC systems. 5. 5. Understanding Adhesive Mixtures for Inhalation : Particle Dynamics Modelling and Segregation Experiments

    Author : Sohan Sarangi; Göran Frenning; Göran Alderborn; Kyrre Thalberg; Johannes Khinast; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; inhalation; adhesive mixtures; dry powder inhaler; discrete element method; segregation; stability; modeling; Galenisk farmaci; Pharmaceutics; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : Pulmonary route has been used as a source of drug delivery to lungs for centuries. Drugformulation decides the type of inhaler devices such as pressurized metered-dose inhalers(pMDIs), nebulizers and dry powder inhalers (DPIs). READ MORE
