  1. 1. Alkylresorcinol metabolites : candidate biomarkers for whole grain wheat and rye intake

    Author : Matti Marklund; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Alkylresorcinols (AR), a group of phenolic lipids present in the outer parts of wheat and rye, have been evaluated as biomarkers for the intake of whole grain (WG) products of these cereals. AR may be utilized to facilitate the investigation of diet-disease associations in epidemiological studies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Orientational dynamics of single molecules applied to protein-DNA target search

    Author : Emil Marklund; Johan Elf; Erwin Peterman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; single molecule imaging; fluorescence correlation spectroscopy; gene regulation; transcription factor; lac operon;

    Abstract : Cells in all life forms regulate their genes with the help of transcription factors (TFs). These proteins turn genes on or off by binding regulatory motifs present in the DNA. Before this binding can occur, a TF needs to search and find the specific binding site in the genome of the cell. READ MORE

  3. 3. Waterfowl in temperate eutrophic lakes - Interactions with macroinvertebrates, submerged vegetation and fish

    Author : Ola Marklund; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hydrobiology; marine biology; aquatic ecology; limnology; Marinbiologi; limnologi; akvatisk ekologi; Chara; Asellus; chironomidae; ultraviolet radiation; epiphytes; predation; herbivory; diel vertical migration; fish; Waterfowl; macroinvertebrates; submerged vegetation;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to explore some of the important links between waterfowl and the biota in shallow eutrophic lakes in temperate areas. Waterfowl depend on macroinvertebrates as sources of protein and calcium, which are essential for egg production and growth. Macroinvertebrates in turn depend on submerged vegetation for food and shelter. READ MORE

  4. 4. Coordinated control of Multi-Stage Inventory System

    Author : Johan Marklund; Produktionsekonomi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inventory systems; multi-echelon; stochastic; decentralization; centralized control; distribution system; divergent system; echelon-stock; installation-stock.;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on three scientific papers dealing with different models for coordinated control of multi-stage inventory systems. The ability to control multi-echelon inventory systems, is paramount for reducing tied up capital and inventory costs in large distribution systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Supply Chain Inventory Control-Methods for Coordination and Evaluation

    Author : Johan Marklund; Produktionsekonomi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Supply Chain; Inventory; Multi-Echelon; Stochastic; Decentralization; Centralized Control; Distribution; Divergent; Batch Ordering.;

    Abstract : Thanks to the fierce competition and the globalization of markets as well as compa¬nies, supply chain management has emerged as one of the most urgent manage¬rial issues in business today. This thesis is devoted to one aspect of this vast problem area - the coordinated management/control of supply chain inventories. READ MORE
