  1. 21. Synthesis of Transition Metal Aluminides from Elemental Powder Mixtures

    Author : Hossein Sina; Materialteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aluminides; Intermetallics; Powder Metallurgy; Reactive Sintering; Combustion Synthesis; Thermal Analysis; DSC; Onset temperature; Phase evolution; SEM; EDS; XRD;

    Abstract : Structural components such as those used in gas turbines for energy conversion applications, are subjected to high loads at elevated temperatures. In order to ensure that the components survive under these conditions for a sufficiently long time, it is imperative to select materials with good high temperature properties like strength and corrosion resistance. 2. 22. Corrosion of painted galvanized steel pretreated with Zr-based thin films

    Author : Konrad Tarka; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HDG; cyclic corrosion test; SEM; EDS; XRD; Atmospheric corrosion;

    Abstract : For decades, phosphating has been considered state of the art for pretreating car bodies in order to promote corrosion resistance and paint adhesion. Although it offers excellent corrosion protection, the phosphating process has drawbacks. READ MORE

  3. 23. Geochemical and mineralogical laboratory methods in waste rock drainage quality prediction

    Author : Teemu Karlsson; Lena Alakangas; Päivi Kauppila; Andrew Barnes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Extractive waste characterisation; drainage water; ARD; NRD; ABA test; NAG test; SEM; Applied Geochemistry; Tillämpad geokemi;

    Abstract : Harmful substances containing acid or neutral rock drainages (ARD and NRD) are a major challenge related to the management of extractive industry wastes. This issue is particularly related to deposits containing sulphide minerals, which are prone to oxidization under the influence of atmospheric oxygen and water. READ MORE

  4. 24. Nanocomposite films for corrosion protection

    Author : Majid Sababi; Jinshan Pan; J.M.C. (Arjan) Mol; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; corrosion protection; nanocomposite; coating; tool alloy; layer‐by‐layer; polarization; passivity; nanomechanical; topography; Mefp‐ 1; ceria nanoparticle; PAni; UV‐cure; AFM; Peak Force QNM; EIS; SEM; CRM; QCM‐D; ATR‐FTIR;

    Abstract : This thesis describes technical and scientific aspects of new types of composite films/coatings for corrosion protection of carbon steel, composite films with nanometer thickness consisting of mussel adhesive protein (Mefp‐1) and ceria nanoparticles, and polymeric composite coatings with micrometre thickness consisting of conducting polymer and ceria nanoparticles in a UV‐curing polyester acrylate (PEA) resin.The influence of microstructure on corrosion behaviour was studied for a Fe‐Cr‐V‐N alloy containing micro‐sized nitrides with different chemical composition spread in martensitic alloy matrix. Abstract : In this work, mathematical models have been developed describing drug release from film-coated reservoir systems as well as drug release and polymer dissolution from swelling and dissolving polymer tablets. The model derivation of both systems is based on a mechanistic approach. The model describing drug release from reservoir systems, i.e. READ MORE
