1. Improved pharmacometric model building techniques
Abstract : Pharmacometric modelling is an increasingly used method for analysing the outcome from clinical trials in drug development. The model building process is complex and involves testing, evaluating and diagnosing a range of plausible models aiming to make an adequate inference from the observed data and predictions for future studies and therapy. 2. A Facet Model of the Logical Operational Structures of Piaget's Theory : Guttman's Facet Design applied to Piaget's Theory
Abstract : This thesis explored whether the complex structure of Piaget's theory of operational thinking could be synthesized into a facet model by means of facet design. The aims were: (1) to deduce from detailed conceptual analyses of 12 of Piaget's classical experiments the essential parts of the operational structures (Study I); (2) to explore the internal structure of his constructs in terms of a mapping sentence (Study II); (3) to study the hierarchical structure of the interrelationships between the constructs (Study III); and (4) to apply the facet model in the development of test items (Study II and IV). 3. Methodological Studies on Models and Methods for Mixed-Effects Categorical Data Analysis
Abstract : Effects of drugs are in clinical trials often measured on categorical scales. These measurements are increasingly being analyzed using mixed-effects logistic regression. However, the experience with such analyzes is limited and only a few models are used. READ MORE

4. A mathematical programming algorithm for optimal bus frequencies
Abstract : Assume that a bus network is given, i.e. we are given a network of streets on which certain bus lines have been set up. Let the total number of buses be given. READ MORE

5. Pharmacometric models in the development of biological medicinal products
Abstract : Biological medicinal products (BMPs) are a successful class of drugs that are indicated in numerous diseases. Common among them is that complexities associated with their manufacture and analysis lead to a high cost compared to small-molecular weight drugs. READ MORE
