  1. 1. Reading the Sky : From Starspots to Spotting Stars

    Author : Urban Eriksson; Cedric Linder; John Airey; Andreas Redfors; Edward E. Prather; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astrometry; Astronomy Education Research; Disciplinary Discernment; Extrapolating three-dimensionality; Reading the Sky; Physics with specialization in Physics Education; Fysik med inriktning mot fysikens didaktik;

    Abstract : This thesis encompasses two research fields in astronomy: astrometry and astronomy education and they are discussed in two parts. These parts represent two sides of a coin; astrometry, which is about constructing 3D representations of the Universe, and AER, where for this thesis, the goal is to investigate university students’ and lecturers’ disciplinary discernment vis-à-vis the structure of the Universe and extrapolating three-dimensionality. 2. 2. Genomic and genetic alterations in endometrial adenocarcinoma

    Author : Eva Falck; Karin Klinga-Levan; Afrouz Behboudi; Pierre Åhman; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Endometrial cancer; Genetic background; BDII rat model; SKY; Chromosomal abreations; Gene expression; Medicine; Medicin; Natural sciences;

    Abstract : The most frequently diagnosed cancer of the female genital tract is cancer of the endometrium (endometrial cancer), ranking fourth among the invasive tumors that affect women in Europe and North America. As most other cancer types, endometrial cancer is a complex genetic disease influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. READ MORE

  3. 3. Imaging the high energy cosmic ray sky

    Author : Petter Hofverberg; Mark Pearce; Bob van Eijk; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astroparticle physics; Astropartikelfysik;

    Abstract : The Stockholm Educational Air Shower Array (SEASA) project is deploying an array of plastic scintillator detector stations on school roofs in the Stockholm area. Signals from GPS satellites are used to time synchronise signals from the widely separated detector stations, allowing cosmic ray air showers to be identified and studied. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cost Optimization of Volumetric Surveillance for Sky Monitoring : Towards Flying Object Detection and Positioning

    Author : Hiba Alqaysi; Mattias O'Nils; Najeem Lawal; Faisal Qureshi; Fabio Poiesi; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; image processing; deep learning; YOLOv4; smart cameras;

    Abstract : Unlike surface surveillance, volumetric monitoring deals with three-dimensional target space and moving objects within it. In sky monitoring, objects fly within outdoor and often remote volumes, such as wind farms and airport runways. Therefore, multiple cameras should be implemented to monitor these volumes and analyze flying activities. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modelling and optimization of sky surveillance visual sensor network

    Author : Naeem Ahmad; Mattias O'Nils; Najeem Lawal; Bengt Oelmann; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : A Visual Sensor Network (VSN) is a distributed system of a largenumber of camera sensor nodes. The main components of a camera sensornode are image sensor, embedded processor, wireless transceiver and energysupply. READ MORE
