1. Dynamic Analysis of Harmonics in Electrical Systems
Abstract : Frequency domain analysis and design of power systems is complicated in the presence of harmonics, switching dynamics, nonlinearities, unbalances, and for systems with mixed ac/dc dynamics. The reason is that linearization of the system does not lead to a time invariant system, but a system with periodically time varying dynamics, which implies that there is coupling between different frequencies. 2. Modeling and Control of Voltage Source Converters Connected to the Grid
Abstract : This thesis deals with the modeling and control of pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage source converters connected to the grid. When voltage source converters are connected to the grid, the power quality and the dynamic performance are affected by the line filter connected between the converter and the grid, and by nonlinearities caused by the switching converter. 3. On Modeling and Stability Analysis of Grid-Connected Voltage Source Converters
Abstract : With increasing deployment of voltage source converters (VSCs) in the grid, instability phenomena due to converter--grid interactions have been observed. Modeling and stability analysis of grid-connected VSCs have become popular research topics. READ MORE

4. Control and Analysis of Pulse-Modulated Systems
Abstract : The thesis consists of an introduction and four appended papers. In the introduction we give an overview of pulse-modulated systems and provide a few examples of such systems. Furthermore, we introduce the so-called dynamic phasor model which is used as a basis for analysis in two of the appended papers. READ MORE

5. Nyquist Stability Analysis of a VSC-HVDC System with a Distributed Parameter DC-cable Model
Abstract : Voltage source converter based high voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) transmission systems have now been in operation since 1997 as it is a reliable and flexible method of power transmission. This thesis focuses on small signal dynamics of such systems, emphasizing stability properties. READ MORE
