  1. 6. Applications for Molten Carbonate Fuel Cells

    Author : Ivan Rexed; Göran Lindbergh; Carina Lagergren; Michel Cassir; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell MCFC ; poisoning; electrolyte degradation; SO2; Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy EIS ; CO2 separation; button cell set-up; reversible molten carbonate fuel cell; high temperature electrolysis.; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Molten Carbonate Fuel cells are high temperature fuel cells suitable for distributed generation and combined heat and power, and are today being installed on commercial basis in sizes from 100kW to several MW. Novel applications for MCFC which have attracted interest lately are MCFC used for CO2 separation from combustion flue gas, and high temperature electrolysis with reversible fuel cells. READ MORE

  2. 7. Experimental and Modeling Studies of Sulfur-Based Reactions in Oxy-Fuel Combustion

    Author : Daniel Fleig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SO3; acid dew-point; coal combustion; oxy-fuel; sulfur; flue gas recycle; corrosion; Carbon capture and storage; H2SO4; SO2;

    Abstract : Oxy-fuel combustion is a technology for CO2 capture that is suitable for large-scale, coal-fired power plants. In this system, the combustion air is replaced by a mixture of O2 and recycled flue gases, so as to enrich for CO2 in the flue gas. READ MORE

  3. 8. The Fate of Sulfur during Oxy-Fuel Combustion

    Author : Daniel Fleig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pulverized coal combustion; oxy-coal; SO3; Oxy-fuel; SO2; sulfur;

    Abstract : Oxy-fuel combustion, where air is replaced by O2 and recycled flue-gas to enrich combustion products, is one of the main CO2 capture technologies suitable for large-scale coal-fired power plants. The changed combustion conditions in oxy-fuel combustion influences the sulfur chemistry, which has recently been the subject of increased attention due to the importance of sulfur species in corrosion and flue-gas cleaning issues. 4. 9. Fundamentals of NH3-SCR and SOx chemistry over copper zeolite for the control of NOx and greenhouse gas (N2O) emissions

    Author : Joonsoo Han; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DeNOx; Cu SSZ-13; NH3-SCR; N2O; EATS; SO3; ammonium nitrate; SO2;

    Abstract : The release of N2O over Cu-zeolite was investigated due to the critical contribution it makes to the atmosphere as one of the greenhouse gases (GHGs). An exhaust after-treatment system (EATS) for heavy-duty vehicles that uses Cu/SSZ-13 as the selective catalyst reduction (SCR) catalyst experiences not only a variety of flow, temperature and chemical conditions but is also exposed to various resulting contaminants.
