  1. 1. Cohesive and Spectroscopic properties of the Lanthanides within the Hubbard I Approximation

    Author : Inka Laura Marie Locht; Igor Di Marco; Olle Eriksson; Annalisa Fasolino; Mikhail I. Katsnelson; Tim Wehling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lantanides; rare earths; cohesive properties; volume; bulk modulus; magnetism; magnetic properties; photoemission spectroscopy; XPS; BIS; Hubbard I Approximation; DMFT; DFT; RSPt; Full Potential Linear Muffin-tin orbitals; 4f electrons; localization; bonding; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : We describe the rare-earth elements using the Hubbard I approximation. We show that the theory reproduces the cohesive properties, like the volume and bulk modulus, and we find an excellent agreement between theory and experiment for the (inverse) photo emission spectra of the valence band. 3. 3. Solar Type Stars as Calibrators : A Photometric and Spectroscopic Study on the Atmospheric Properties of Late-type Stars

    Author : Anna Önehag; Ulrike Heiter; Andreas Korn; Bengt Gustafsson; Frank Grundahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stars: atmospheres; stars: late-type; techniques: photometric; stars: abundances; techniques: spectroscopic; Astronomy; Astronomi;

    Abstract : Detailed knowledge of solar-type stars is essential in the understanding of the evolutionary past, presence and future of the Sun as well as the formation of its planetary system. Moreover, solar-type stars are of key significance for the study of the evolution of the Galaxy. The ages of solar-type stars map the full galactic evolution. READ MORE

  4. 4. Lanthanide Metal-Organic Frameworks and Hierarchical Porous Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks : Synthesis, Properties, and Applications

    Author : Hani Nasser Abdelhamid; Xiaodong Zou; Belén Martín-Matute; Banglin Chen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metal-organic frameworks; Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks; Lanthanide MOFs; Hierarchical porous ZIFs; Inorganic Chemistry; oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the synthesis, properties, and applications of two important classes of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs); lanthanide MOFs and hierarchical porous zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs). The materials have been characterized using a wide range of techniques including diffraction, imaging, various spectroscopic techniques, gas sorption, dynamical light scattering (DLS) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). 5. 5. Characterising Weak Interactions in Solution. : An NMR Spectroscopic Approach

    Author : Scott Wilcox; Máté Erdélyi; Chris Hunter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : Detecting and characterising weak interactions in dilute solutions is challenging. This thesis focusses on the development of a new NMR spectroscopic strategy to do so, whilst also investigates a newly proposed type of weak interaction in solution with currently available NMR techniques.
