  1. 11. Characterization of suspended particulate matter from freshwater validation of a field filtration technique

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Fredrik Ödman; [2004]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : A field filtration method for the concentration and separation of suspended particulate matter (SPM) from freshwater systems and the subsequent determination of major, minor, trace and ultra trace elements (Al, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Fe, Ga, Hf, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Rb, S, Sb, Sc, Si, Sn, Sr, Ta, Th, Ti, Tl, U, V, W, Zn and Zr) is validated with respect to detection limits, precision, and bias. The validation comprises the whole procedure including filtration, sample digestion and instrumental analysis. READ MORE

  2. 12. Analysis of Human Brain MRI Contributions to Regional Volume Studies

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Richard Nordenskjöld; Joel Kullberg; Elna-Marie Larsson; Lars Johansson; Håkan Ahlström; Göran Starck; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MRI; Brain; Volume; Hemisphere; Intracranial volume; Image analysis; Computerized Image Analysis; Datoriserad bildanalys;

    Abstract : Many disorders are associated with regional brain volumes. The analysis of these volumes from MR images often requires sequential processing steps such as localization and delineation. READ MORE

  3. 13. Scanning probe microscopy studies of interaction forces between particles: emphasis on magnetite, bentonite and silica

    University dissertation from Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Illia Dobryden; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Experimental physics; Experimentell fysik;

    Abstract : Scanning probe microscopy (SPM), such as the atomic force microscope (AFM), using colloidal probes is a highly suitable technique to probe single particle-particle interactions in aqueous solution. The interaction force between a colloidal probe on the AFM cantilever and sample surface is measured. READ MORE

  4. 14. Malignancies associated with gynecological cancer : epidemiological and etiological aspects

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics ; Institutionen för onkologi-patologi / Department of Oncology-Pathology

    Author : Kjell Bergfeldt; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neoplasms; second primary; ovarian cancer; breast cancer.;

    Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to analyze the incidence and risk of second primary malignancies (SPM) in a Swedish cohort of gynecological cancer patients, to explore suggested risk factors associated with second primary malignancies in ovarian cancer patients, and to evaluate the risk of ovarian cancer in a cohort of breast cancer patients in relation to family history of breast or ovarian cancer. Incidence of second primary malignancies in 15,200 gynecologicaI cancer patients were investigated in a register-based study and compared to age- and calendar-specific incidence for women in the general population. 5. 15. Nanoscale studies of functional materials using scanning probe microscopy

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Materialvetenskap

    Author : Jesper Wittborn; [2000]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with developing suitable modifications ofScanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) for investigations offunctional properties of materials. In order to make itpossible to investigate a number of properties of variousfunctional systemsusing SPM the following new techniques have beendeveloped:    A magnetic force microscope (MFM) having capability ofboth dc- and ac-mode detection.
