  1. 1. Stochastic Reactor Models for Engine Simulations

    University dissertation from Division of Combustion Physics, Department of Physics, Lund University

    Author : Martin Tunér; [2008]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SRM; Stochastic Reactor Model; Engine Simulation; Chemical kinetics; HCCI; Direct injection; Combustion; NVO; Modeling; PDF;

    Abstract : The aim of the thesis work is the further development of practical engine simulation tools based on Stochastic Reactor Models, SRMs. Novel and efficient implementations were made of a variety of SRMs adapted to different engine types. The models in question are the HCCI-SRM, the TwoZone SI-SRM and the DI-SRM. READ MORE

  2. 2. Bonded Particle Model for Jointed Rock Mass

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Diego Mas Ivars; KTH.; [2010]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bonded particle model; Smooth-joint contact model; Discrete fracture network; Synthetic rock mass; Jointed rock mass; TECHNOLOGY Civil engineering and architecture Geoengineering and mining engineering Geoengineering; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur Geoteknik och gruvteknik Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Jointed rock masses are formed of intact rock and joints. There-fore, proper characterization of rock mass behavior has to consid-er the combined behavior of the intact rock blocks and that of the joints.This thesis presents the theoretical background of the Synthetic Rock Mass (SRM) modeling technique along with example applica-tions. 3. 3. Alternative reducing agents in metallurgical processes Experimental study of thermal characterization of shredder residue material

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Samira Lotfian; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Abstract : Coal used in metallurgical processes can participate in reduction reactions to produce metals and alloys from oxides. Base metals production leads to generation of slag, which contains valuable metals that can be recovered and recycled. There are several options to treat the slag, depending on the metal content in the slag. READ MORE

  4. 4. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry

    University dissertation from KFS AB

    Author : Adina Gogan; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2006]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; plasmas; Gaser; Gases; fluid dynamics; aktuariematematik; programmering; operationsanalys; Statistik; actuarial mathematics; programming; operations research; Statistics; detailed kinetics; emissions; engine knock; autoignition; modeling; spark ignition engine; diesel engine; fluiddynamik; plasma; Technological sciences; Teknik; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik; Motors and propulsion systems; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; stochastic reactor model;

    Abstract : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 5. 5. Proteomics in Nasal Lavage Fluids from Persulfate Challenged Hairdressers

    University dissertation from Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine

    Author : Harriet Mörtstedt; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nasal lavage fluid; selected reaction monitoring; persulfate; hairdresser; proteomics; oxidation; mass spectrometry; iTRAQ;

    Abstract : Hairdressers have an increased risk for developing airway symptoms e.g. asthma and rhinitis. Persulfate salts, which are oxidizing agents present in bleaching powder, are considered to be important causal agents for these symptoms. READ MORE
