21. Myc-induced Lymphomagenesis : In vivo assessment of downstream pathways
Abstract : Myc oncogenes encode transcription factors that bind to E-box sequences in DNA, driving the expression of a large number of target genes and are deregulated in approximately 70% of human cancers. Deregulated Myc expression cause enhanced proliferation (which is counteracted by apoptosis), angiogenesis and cancer. READ MORE

22. Performance Evaluation and Life Cycle Cost Analysis of the Electrical Generation Unit of a Wave Energy Converter
Abstract : The main focus of this work is the performance and the economical assessment of a radial flux generator that is used in wave power applications. The wave energy converter (WEC) used in this work is a point absorber, that is considered to move only in heave. READ MORE

23. Volatile organic compounds from microorganisms : identification and health effects
Abstract : Damp building materials are subjected to degradation processes due to moisture and also microbial growth, with both of these giving rise to emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that may contribute to indoor air health problems. The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate emissions of reactive and non-reactive VOCs from damp building materials and from the microorganisms growing on them, and also to investigate the possible health impact of these compounds. 24. Arthroplasty in patients with femoral neck fractures
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to analyze hip function and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with a displaced fracture of the femoral neck treated with a cemented total hip arthroplasty (THA) or a hemiarthroplasty (HA), unipolar or bipolar. Moreover, the purpose was to analyze factors influencing the stability of the THA with special reference to the surgical approach and to evaluate the responsiveness of the Short Musculoskeletal Function Assessment (SMFA), i. 25. Development and Evaluation of a Denuder-Filter System Designed for Sampling Diisocyanate Aerosols
Abstract : There are many occupational environments in which isocyanates or PUR-products are used, produced or processed. During these operations there is always a risk of isocyanate exposure, which may lead to severe health problems. Isocyanates principally affect the respiratory system and they are the main cause of occupational asthma. READ MORE
