  1. 1. Magma-Crust Interaction at Subduction Zone Volcanoes

    Author : Ester M. Jolis; Valentin R Troll; Silvio Mollo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magma-crust interaction; stable isotopes O-C ; radiogenic isotopes Sr-Nd-Pb ; calc-silicate xenoliths; HP-HT experimental petrology; crustal volatiles; Vesuvius; Merapi; Kelut; the Sunda arc; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot mineralogi; petrologi och tektonik; Earth Science with specialization in Mineral Chemistry; Petrology and Tectonics;

    Abstract : The focus of this work is magma-crust interaction processes and associated crustal volatile release in subduction zone volcanoes, drawing on rock, mineral, and gas geochemistry as well as experimental petrology. Understanding the multitude of differentiation processes that modify an original magma during ascent to the surface is vital to unravel the contributions of the various sources that contribute to the final magmas erupted at volcanoes. 3. 3. Pressure, temperature and time constraints on tectonic models for southwestern Sweden

    Author : Eric Austin Hegardt; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : Sveconorwegian; Gothian; Hallandian; U‐Pb zircon ion probe dating; Sm-Nd garnet dating; thermobarometry; continental subduction; Eastern Segment; Median Segment; Western Segment;

    Abstract : In this work, a number of key localities have been investigated in detail in order to provide precise constraints on models for the tectonic evolution of southern Sweden. The new data presented in this thesis show that there are large differences in terms of pre-Sveconorwegian tectonic evolution between the Eastern and Median-Western Segments situated on either side of the Mylonite Zone, a major shear zone as well as a structural and lithological boundary. 4. 4. Deep subduction of the Seve Nappe Complex in the Scandinavian Caledonides

    Author : Iwona Klonowska; Jarosław Majka; Peter Lazor; Marian Janák; Bjarne Almqvist; Jane Gilotti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geothermobarometry; thermodynamic modelling; Raman spectroscopy; diamond; ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism; eclogite; peridotite; gneiss;

    Abstract : This thesis seeks to improve our understanding of the processes involved in continental collision zones, with a particular focus on subduction-exhumation. The main objective of this work has been to define the tectonometamorphic evolution of the deeply subducted Seve Nappe Complex (SNC) in the Scandinavian Caledonides. READ MORE

  5. 5. The metamorphic history of Naxos (central Cyclades, Greece) : Deciphering the Oligocene and Miocene exhumation events

    Author : Alexandre Peillod; Uwe Ring; Alasdair Skelton; Arne Willner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Cycladic Blueschist Unit; exhumation; fluid flow; geothermobarometry; Hellenide orogen; Rb-Sr dating; subduction-zone metamorphism; Heat flow; Lower crust; extensional domain; Metamorphic core complex; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : High pressure, low temperature (HP-LT) rocks observed at the surface of the Earth are evidence ofpast subduction zones. Understanding the tectonics processes that control the exhumation of HP-LT metamorphic rocks in these subduction zones requires full comprehension of the pressure-temperature-time (P–T–t) cycle that the rocks experienced.
