1. Respiratory distress syndrome aspects of inhaled nitric oxide, surfactant and nasal CPAP
Abstract : Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) still represents one of the main problems in the treatment of premature infants. Despite the use of surfactant replacement therapy RDS adds to the need for endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation (M). READ MORE

2. Synthesis of Polyhydroxylated Surfactants : Comparison of Surfactant Stereoisomers and Investigation of Haemolytic Activity
READ MORE

3. Formation of Block Copolymer and Surfactant Vesicles
Abstract : In this thesis temperature induced vesicle formation in both a block copolymer system and nonionic surfactant system have been investigated. The block copolymer is a triblock copolymer of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(propylene oxide) (PPO), PEO-PPO-PEO, with the average molecular composition of EO5PO68EO5 and the commercial trade name Pluronic L121 (papers I, II). 4. The Co-Structure Directing Agent (CSDA) Approach to Mesoporous Silica Formation – Exploring the Assembly Characteristics
Abstract : We investigate the formation mechanism responsible for two specific systems of mesoporous silicas formed with the so-called co-structure directing agent (CSDA) route. The synthesis relies on the interactions between silica source (tetraethylorthosilicate, TEOS), surfactants and CSDA. READ MORE

5. Surface reactivity of metal nanoparticles : - importance of surface active agents and biomolecules from a transformation, mobility and toxicity perspective
Abstract : Metallic nanoparticles possess unique properties due to their size and are widely used in e.g. consumer products. From this follows a need to identify and assess potential risks of human and environmental exposure. READ MORE
