1. Fast Dynamic Processes in Solution Studied by NMR Spectroscopy
Abstract : Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is capable to deliver a detailed information about the dynamics on molecular level in a wide range of time scales, especially if accompanied by suitably chosen theoretical tools. In this work, we employed a set of high-resolution NMR techniques to investigate dynamics processes in several weakly interacting molecular systems in solution. READ MORE

2. Antigens derived from the mucin MUC1 : Solution and solid-phase synthesis of saccharides, peptides and glycopeptides
Abstract : Mucin is a term used to describe a large family of heavily glycosylated proteins which are present on the surfaces of secretory epithelial cells and are overexpressed by many carcinomas. Membrane-bound mucin MUC1 is of special interest. Its backbone consists of repeating units of twenty amino acids with five potential glycosylation sites. READ MORE

3. The structure and conformation of saccharides determined by experiment and simulation
Abstract : A computer program, CASPER, for sequence determination of oligosaccharides and regular polysaccharides using NMR-data, has been extended to support multiply branched structures. The program has been modified to allow the use of incomplete experimental data since spectral overlap can be a problem even at high fields. READ MORE

4. Structural studies of some microbial polysaccharides containing aminodeoxy sugars and aminodeoxy hexuronic acids
Abstract : The structures of extracellular poly saccharides from RhinocladieIla, capsular polysaccharides from Haemophilus influenzae type d and e3 and the 0-antigen from Vibrio cholerae have been determined. The principal methods used were 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and methylation analysis. READ MORE

5. Transglycosylation catalyzed by β-mannanases : Molecular aspects relevant for enzymatic synthesis
Abstract : β-Mannanases are a major type of enzyme involved in the hydrolysis and modification of β-mannans, a hemicellulose present in high amounts in e.g. softwoods such as spruce. The β-mannanases studied in this thesis belong to glycoside hydrolase (GH) families GH5 and GH26. READ MORE
