  1. 1. Saccharomyces castellii: A new model organism for telomere research

    Author : Eimantas Astromskas; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2008]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Naumovia castellii; Saccharomyces castellii; yeast; genetic tools; gene targeting; telomere; CDC13.; telomeric overhang;

    Abstract : Telomeres are natural ends of eukaryotic chromosomes and perform a major role in cell biology. They protect chromosomes from degradation, fusions and the end replication problem. To study telomeres different model organisms are used including a number of yeast species. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functional Studies of Telomere-Binding Proteins in Saccharomyces castellii

    Author : Jenny Rhodin; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Rap1; DNA-binding domain; telomere evolution; Cdc13; telomerase; single-stranded overhang; telomere; yeast; Naumovia castellii; Saccharomyces castellii;

    Abstract : Telomeres are the ends of linear eukaryotic chromosomes. The telomeres are essential for solving the end replication problem and they stabilize the genome by protection from degradation. The telomeres also protect the chromosomal ends from by being recognized as DNA breaks by the repair machinery, which could lead to end-to-end fusions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies of molecular mechanisms of telomere maintenance in Naumovozyma castellii

    University dissertation from Lund University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology

    Author : Ahu Karademir Andersson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2017-04]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; YEAST; Saccharomyces castellii; Naumovozyma castellii; Processvity; Telomerase; Telomere; ALT; Strain engineering;

    Abstract : POPULAR SCIENTIFIC SUMMARYI was on my way home, sitting on the bus. My tired eyes swept through the pages of the local newspaper and that was the moment I met Lisa. She had previously been diagnosed with cancer. She had recovered and was back to her daily life. READ MORE

  4. 4. RAP1 at the Yeast Telomere

    University dissertation from Johan Wahlin, Dep. of Cell and Organism Biology, Sölvegatan 29, 223 62 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Johan Wahlin; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2002]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cytogenetik; DNA-binding; Saccharomyces; yeast; telomeric repeat; telomere; RAP1; repressor activator protein 1; Genetics; cytogenetics; Genetik;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Det mesta av det genetiska materialet i en eukaryot cell finns samlat till kärnan och är organiserat i kromosomer. Varje gång en cell delas kopieras kromosomerna så att de båda resulterande cellerna får ett bibehållet kromosomantal. READ MORE

  5. 5. Genome dynamics and virulence in the human pathogen Candida glabrata

    University dissertation from Department of Biology, Lund University

    Author : Khadija Mohamed Ahmad; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2014]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pathogenic yeast; Candida glabrata; small chromosomes; Genome rearrangement; Haploid and diploid yeast; RNA interference.;

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in English Candida glabrata is currently the second most usual cause of yeast infections. This yeast is phylogenetically more related to Saccharomyces cerevisiae than to Candida albicans. Many systemic infections have recently been found associated with C. glabrata yeast. READ MORE
