  1. 21. The geology and genesis of lead-zinc veins in Sweden

    Author : Åke Johansson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The geology and genesis of Pb-Zn-bearing vein deposits in Sweden have been studied through investigations of their geological setting, vein and alteration mineralogy, wall rock geochemistry, lead and sulfur isotope composition and sphalerite composition, and through thermometric measurements on fluid inclusions from selected veins. The investigated deposits include Subjotnian veins from Älvdalen, Dalslandian veins from Dalsland and Värmskog, Caledonian quartz and calcite veins, Devonian deposits in the Siljan Ring structure, and Variscan veins in SE Scania. 2. 22. Absorbent Materials from Kraft Pulp

    Author : Fredrik Wernersson Brodin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; retention; MFC; oxidation; Absorbent; absorption; TEMPO; freeze drying; disintegration;

    Abstract : SuperAbsorbent Polymers (SAPs) have, since being introduced in the 1980s, become an important constituent in hygiene products, such as disposable diapers. The design of disposable diapers has changed over the years and today thinner products can be produced partly because of the excellent absorption and retention properties of the petrochemical-based SAPs. 3. 23. Electrostatically Driven Structure Formation in Clay Dispersions

    Author : Maria Jansson; Beräkningskemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lera; Montmorillonit; Laponite®; Taktoid; Anisotropi; Överladdning; Interkalering; Grov korninga modeller; MD simuleringar; MC simuleringar; SAXS; Svälltryck; zeta-potential; Clay; Montmorillonite; Laponite®; Nanoplatelets; Tactoid; Anisotropy; Overcharging; Intercalation; Coarse-grained modeling; MD simulations; MC simulations; SAXS; Swelling pressure; zeta-potential;

    Abstract : Clay minerals consist of clay platelets, which are anisotropic in both size and charge, and these can form a lamellar structure depending on the size, making it a seemingly perfect model system for an electrical double layer. The situation is however, from a structural point, slightly less ideal. READ MORE

  4. 24. Pain and radiographic changes of the arthritic temporomandibular joint : relation to cytokines in synovial fluid and plasma

    Author : Silvi Nordahl; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Arthritis; Bone loss; Interleukin- 1 beta; Pain; Plasma; Progression; Radiographic changes; Synovial fluid; Temporomandibular joint; Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha;

    Abstract : In patients with rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory joint diseases, radiographic changes of the TMJ are frequently observed. Common symptoms of TMJ involvement are pain at rest and on movement of the jaw. READ MORE

  5. 25. Glutamate for metabolic intervention in coronary surgery : with special reference to the GLUTAMICS-trial

    Author : Mårten Vidlund; Rolf Svedjeholm; Torbjörn Ivert; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; myocardial ischemia; coronary artery bypass; cardiac surgery; acute coronary syndrome; glutamate; metabolic intervention; postoperative heart failure; myocardial recovery; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : Myocardial ischemia is a major cause of postoperative heart failure and adverse outcome in coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG). Conventional treatment of postoperative heart failure with inotropic drugs may aggravate underlying ischemic injury. READ MORE
