  1. 1. The High Temperature Corrosion of Alloy Sanicro 28

    Author : Carolina Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alkali induced corrosion; chromate formation; Sanicro 28; oxidation of stainless steel; KCl induced corrosion;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the influence of potassium chloride in solid and gaseous form on the oxidation of alloy Sanicro 28 (35Fe27Cr31Ni). KCl induced corrosion of chromia forming alloys is important e.g. in fireside corrosion in biomass and waste fired power plants. READ MORE

  2. 2. High Temperature Corrosion of Some Stainless Steels

    Author : Carolina Pettersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxidation of stainless steel; alkali induced corrosion; KCl induced corrosion; Sanicro 28; chromate formation;

    Abstract : The high temperature corrosion of the alloy Sanicro 28 (35Fe27Cr31Ni) is addressed in this thesis. The influence of water vapour and two potassium-containing salts was investigated. In addition, three other alloys were studied. Polished steel coupons were isothermally exposed in tube furnaces at 600–800°C in 5% O2 and in 5% O2 + 40% H2O. READ MORE

  3. 3. Deposit Induced Corrosion in Biofuel Combustion

    Author : Petter Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ferritic steel; high temperature corrosion; superheater; waste combustion; CFB; biofuel boiler; waterwall; alkali chloride; deposit induced corrosion; chromate; nickel-based alloy; austenitic steel; martensitic steel; waste boiler;

    Abstract : Deposit induced corrosion is one of the main mechanisms for attack on heat exchangers in biofuel boilers. This severe corrosion decreases the obtainable steam temperature in boilers, thereby the efficiency in production of electricity is reduced. Deposit formation from the gas on superheater tubes are is generally referred to as fouling. READ MORE

  4. 4. High Temperature Corrosion of Stainless Steels in Low Oxygen Activity Environments -The effect of H2 and H2O

    Author : Hamed Hoseini Hooshyar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; pre-oxidation; chromia former; H2O; High Temperature Corrosion; alumina former; H2;

    Abstract : Gasification of biomass and waste is promising for reducing the use of fossil fuels. While the operation conditions of superheaters and gas coolers in the gasifier are restricted by gas-side corrosion, scientific investigations are very scarce in this field. READ MORE

  5. 5. Investigations of Chlorine-Induced High Temperature Corrosion of Steels

    Author : Nicklas Folkeson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sulphur; alkali; chlorine; field exposures; HCl-induced corrosion; high temperature corrosion; deposits.; chloride-induced corrosion; waste; 310S; HCl;

    Abstract : The high corrosivity of the fireside environment in waste and biomass fired boilers is commonly attributed to the presence of chlorine-containing compounds. Chlorine-induced high temperature corrosion is not well understood, however. READ MORE
